La Grolla is located in St. Paul, MN and is one of the oldest restaurants in St. Paul! They are known for serving homemade Italian food and have been in business for almost 30 years. I always love Italian food and crave it every day, and found this place through social media. I found out all of their sauces are homemade and most of their pastas are handmade as well. I tried their Penne Alla Vodka Cappelletti, AI Quattro Formaggi, Bruschetta Classica, Crème brûlée, and Cannoli and I gotta say, I can tell these chefs cook from the heart because everything tasted so delicious and heartwarming. The AI Quattro Formaggi is basically a large hat shaped pasta stuffed with ricotta cheese and Parmesan tossed with fontina cheese, gorgonzola, pecorino confit, cream sauce. I have to say that pasta was so delicious! I really like the sharp, nutty, and creamy elements in the pasta. That was purely handmade which I applud for because I love homemade food and I think it was super delicious. The drought wasn’t too thick as the texture of the pasta dough was perfect. I also had their Penne Alla Vodka Cappelletti. I love the addition to basil because it gives the pasta a fresh herb element and basil is one of my favorite herbs. It went perfectly with this pasta. I love the Smokey and tomatoey flavor the dish had and this was also another great creamy pasta that I crave all day. It was honestly super yummy. I think a bit more peppery flavor would have kicked up the dish but overall, it was like I was in my mom’s kitchen. She has some Italian roots in her so I cherish and admire the Italian flair she has. The Bruschetta Classica is such a classic appetizer that is my personal favorite that I gotta have. Very nice garlic flavor, the tomatoes, cheese, and olives are the perfect toppings on top. Not too oily as sometimes bruschetta can be too oily. The bread was nicely toasted and there was a perfect bite in my mouth. I’m in LOVE with the Crème brûlée as it was so delicious, rich, creamy, and had a nice burnt flavor. Probably one of the best crème brûlée’s I ever had which I can’t believe either. It’s such a nice decadent dessert that is such and Italian stable. I’m in love with La Grolla and their dishes are bomb so make sure you check them out when you are in the St. Paul Area!

La grolle is a very beautiful restaurant accompanied with a bar and attractive patio. The atmosphere is not suited for families but caters more towards young and older adults. This restaurant is a very great place if you're craving a romantic Italian dinner or meeting up with friends for lunch. The staff is very friendly and professional. Honestly the menu is somewhat hard to read if you are not well versed in Italian dishes such as a customer like myself. However, the staff is knowledgeable about many of the dishes and is more than willing to help you understand and choose a dish suited to your taste. Recently I went there with a large group of people (7) and we ordered a lot of food. I was impressed that our waiter was able to order our food very well and was able to answer all our questions about the meal such as portion, serving size, ingredients, etc. My waiter pointed out to me that “La Grolle is very generous with portions especially regarding pasta” I find that true for the most part but prices can vary from $10-$20. My personal favorite is the “Penne alla Vodka” because there is a unique taste that balances a creamy texture with a smooth flavor that makes you crave more for only $10. Below is from left to right are photos of the Farfalle San Remo, Fettuccine Alfredo, Spaghetti Puttanesca, Calamari Fritte, bread (antipasta), the general outlook of the restaurant, and Penne alla Vodka.

I don't know where to start. I am Italian, and I don't expect to eat Italian in Minnesota. All Italian dishes are Americanized in restaurants, and the raw materials differ. However, there is a difference between good food and bad food. We ate badly tonight. The salmon tartare had too many ingredients - vegetables, avocado, cucumbers, lettuce, tomatoes, etc. - maybe there was salmon too. Perhaps! The capesante (scallops) were hidden in a tangle of over-fried noodles. They were brown and drowned in a mysterious sauce full of cream. Lobster tagliatelle had prawns and not lobster. I understand there are deer here, and there is no sea, but the chef should know the difference between shrimp and lobster. It should be better to change the dish’s name. Ravioli with crab drowned in the sauce with cream, like tagliatelle. The only certainty is that there is no shortage of cream in the kitchen. As if all this were not enough, the white wine Soave was served in a glass of water or soft drink. Intolerable. The table was full of crumbs, the staff surly. The only nice person was our waitress. It was all very embarrassing. My last time here.

La Grolla is an absolute delight! As a resident of the neighborhood for over two years, I've had the pleasure of discovering and enjoying its warm and inviting ambiance time and time again. This charming Italian restaurant has effortlessly secured its spot as my all-time favorite dining spot.

The moment you step inside, you're greeted with an atmosphere that feels like home. It's as if you're walking into a family-owned haven, where every visit is a comforting experience. The cozy setting creates the perfect backdrop for enjoying a fantastic meal.

Speaking of meals, the food at La Grolla is nothing short of a culinary masterpiece. Each dish is crafted with such care and dedication that every bite is a journey of flavors and textures. The taste is so authentic and reminiscent of homemade cooking that it's as though you're being treated to a meal prepared by an Italian grandmother with a secret recipe book.

What truly sets La Grolla apart, though, is the impeccable service. The staff members have mastered the art of hospitality, always attentive and ready to ensure your dining experience is nothing less than phenomenal. Whether you're a regular or a first-time guest, the treatment you receive makes you feel valued and appreciated.

One of my favorite things to do is to gather with neighbors on a weeknight and enjoy a leisurely dinner at La Grolla. It's the perfect spot to catch up, share stories, and create lasting memories. This restaurant has truly become a cornerstone of our community, embodying the essence of what defines the dining scene in the Twin Cities.

In a world where dining options are aplenty, La Grolla stands out as a shining example of excellence. Its unique blend of heartwarming atmosphere, mouthwatering cuisine, and exceptional service sets the bar high for other restaurants. If you're in search of an amazing dining experience that leaves you with a smile, a satisfied palate, and a desire to return again and again, look no further than La Grolla. It's simply amazing!

Thank you, La Grolla, for continuously delivering top-notch quality and making every visit a special one. You've truly captured our hearts and taste buds. Here's to many more unforgettable meals at your wonderful...

Giving two stars ONLY because we waited 50-55 minutes for our table when we had a reservation I never post reviews but I want people to be aware of this so they can plan accordingly and I want La Grolla to realize that maybe they need to fix this problem if it keeps happening. We had a reservation for this past Friday at 7pm for 5 people. I understand 5 people can be tricky to seat but I made this reservation with plenty of time and openings surrounding the reservation I picked, with confirmation of a phone call making sure it was okay. When we arrived for dinner, we were told by the very nice host (honestly he was great and we felt really bad for him) that they were just waiting for a few tables to clear which is completely acceptable and understandable, no problem waiting a few minutes at all. 5 minutes, 10 minutes, 15 minutes, 20 minutes, etc went by. He would check in periodically and give us false hope that it should just be a few minutes longer. Finally 50ish minutes later our table was ready. Now, La Grolla did apologize many times and even gave us 2 free bruschetta and a round of champagne which was VERY nice and VERY appreciated!!!! And our waitress was sooooo nice. But that does not take away from the fact that we had to wait 50-55 minutes for our table with a reservation!!!!!!!! That’s unacceptable!!! And the worst part is that we weren’t the only ones. There were multiple parties we talked to that had to wait a long time for their tables too and we all had reservations! So hopefully La Grolla fixes the issue of not over booking OR limiting the time you can be at a table. I know it’s probably very hard with their nice patio closed in the winter, but hopefully we don’t have this experience again. We love La Grolla and didn’t leave to go elsewhere because we love the food and ambiance so much we knew it would be worth the wait!!! We were celebrating my husband’s birthday and were really really excited to eat here. And it certainly was worth everything!! But we really hope this issue is resolved because it’s certainly not fair at all. We’ve never had an experience like this elsewhere. Thank you!!! P.s. get the Capesante and the raviolo di granchio - both are...
