Gourmet Gallery — Local services in Saint Thomas

You just can't trust the other salad bars that are around on Saint Thomas people don't really maintain them or care to keep the freshest product out there but this is not the case for gourmet Gallery. This is the best salad bar on the island and in addition to that they have a hot pasta bar daily. I've never had anything bad from here either and if you want anything in addition to that they have a huge variety of pre-made pop it in the oven type of dinner choices.

Another thing that I really enjoyed about coming to gourmet Gallery is that they are always stocked with what you are looking for. It's so annoying when you walk into the grocery store with a planned meal in mind and the store is not carrying garlic or ginger or tomatoes or cilantro which is what happens frequently to the other stores on this island. This never happens here so it's only one shopping stop.

My only gripe about this place is that they are very overpriced for the market. However at the end of the day what you are paying for is the convenience of not hunting things down all over this island and also having fresh items. So you're paying a premium to experience less stress when grocery shopping. All of the employees here are also very nice and helpful in finding items which is not what you are going to get at other grocery stores on Saint Thomas.

This specialty market is located near the cruise ship dock, and it has tourist prices to match. What's weird as that it's not that nice of a store, but it sure is fun to browse.

They have a crazy selection of high end wine both American and European, including a majority of highly questionable bottles of very expensive wines that are offered at a "discount." The labels looked molded and improperly stored, so I would be extremely wary of making any purchase of higher end wines there. It was clear many of these bottles had been improperly stored and/or were damaged, and that's probably why they were still sitting on the shelf.

Prices are very high, but the store carries a good selection of gourmet items, candies, spices, snacks and more. I am not sure who the customer is that would shop here, but I guess it's worth a browse if you're trying to kill time...

We were looking for some wine to take back on the cruise ship so this place was a nice surprise. They have a fairly large selection of bottles however you need to be very careful. Many of the bottles have been sitting there a long time. Not uncommon to find wines from 2009 or earlier. However they aren't stored properly on their sides. We bought four bottles there and one of them had turned. I understand the difficulty around logistics of stocking wine in the Caribbean though. Not a lot of people drink it there and it's hard to come by. They have some high dollar vintages in there too but I would be very leery of buying...
