I honestly want to give this place 5 stars because everything really was great. However, I have Celiac disease and I did end up getting a little sick in the middle of the night after our dinner. Based on how my body reacted, it was probably a contact issue where something gluten touched my food. I would’ve gotten much more sick if I had actually eaten something with gluten. Regarding the food, the tacos, crunch wrap, fajitas, enchiladas, and queso were phenomenal! I can rarely eat queso because the recipes often include gluten. It was a treat to have the queso. Alexa, our server, was so sweet and attentive! She answered all of our questions and, if she wasn’t sure of the answer, she would go speak to the right people to get the answer! She was patient with my specific needs and made very good notes on our order ticket. (“Celiac - Gluten Allergy” was written in big words on the page!! She also went to speak with John in the kitchen for me!) We also made a reservation on OpenTable because the restaurant looked a little busy online. We had a table within a minute! Overall, we really enjoyed the experience but I would still caution my fellow food allergy friends to have a conversation with the server and kitchen staff. I really do think my experience was an oopsie because I only became a little sick. The food was delicious and...
Read moreMaria was amazing! Her recommendations were spot on and redeemed our bad night at a different place the night before. Hubby's smothered burrito was fabulous, but my veggie bowl (chicken added) was to die for!! Go at happy hour, the pitcher of frozen margaritas was great. I might come back tmrw!
Ok, we did come back!! Let me tell you, that this place was so good, we ate here 2 nights in a row. Skip the super pricey steak place and have really great Mexican food! Their civichi was probably the best I've ever had and I live pretty close to the Mexican border, just outside LA. Yum! I took Maria's recommendation and had the veggie bowl, and added chicken for the best of both worlds! Who knew I needed sweet potatoes in my Mexican bowl?? I ordered it both nights. Hubby had a smothered burrito on night one and the carne asada enchiladas on night 2. He loved both. But, the very best thing about Agave was the customer service. Maria and Tyana made us feel like we were sitting around their kitchen table. Seriously, we felt like family when we left. Whether you're traveling like us, or you're a local don't forget to check out this lovely spot. You will...
Read moreWe went for Taco Tuesday in Agave restaurant Charlotte Amalie and ordered street tacos $6 and got instead $17 tacos from our server Melissa. Don’t get me wrong food was good and drinks were ok but there is really no way of not feeling scammed when you ordered and are expecting to pay $24 for 8 tacos and the check says $75. So despite my spouse trying to say forget it, I was curious what is the difference between the two. The person speaking with me on the phone first getting confused by the question then tried to claim that they put a full steak serving of 2 tacos which would mean fitting 6 oz steak in 2 small 6 inch tortillas with toppings seems unlikely. Let me be clear, I called the restaurant before arrival to verify it was a special for Taco Tuesday and I ordered off of the small special’s menu. So overall, not a good experience leaving the restaurant feeling scammed by a server. I get it. I am a bartender in NJ. You wanted a bigger check to get a bigger tip. But, don’t treat me like I’m stupid. Would not recommend, would not be going back. Make sure you clarify with the server before ordering and make sure you are paying for the price...
