Garibaldi Mexican Restaurant & Cantina — Restaurant in Salem

This Restaurant was on my list to try out for a good while and today, it was Recommended by an influencial, friendly, and creative Oregon Native, Mr. Lance Caldwell, when we asked "where is a great place to get a breakfast burrito?" Arriving at the location, the parking lot was, nearly, full; and I immediately thought, "Oh, they must have a great "Sunday Brunch!" Amazingly, upon entering, it felt very much like home, and family! We were greeted by a friendly hostess and immediately taken to our table, at a window seat! The menu selection was varied and extensive! After a long time, ooohing, and ahhing, and salivating, at the delicious looking plate selections, we ordered the Super Burrito and the Seafood Fajitas with black beans! Chips and salsa with bean/cabbage dip was served. Although the ingredients (tomatoes, onion, cilantro) were "fresh" the sauce tasted watery or as if it was just made (tomato paste) or just water was added? The "flavors" were not "melded" into the salsa! Our plates came and we were Delightful impressed at the presentation and size! Delightfully AMAZING! Again, our taste buds were disappointed with the "lack" of robustness of the sauce on the Super Burrito plate....it was thin and nearly tasteless! [We did make a special Note to our server about this so they could correct it....shesaid she would go and let the chef /cook know.]. The Seafood Fajitas plate was sizzling and the ingredients were the FRESHEST! ALSO beans, rice, salad, sour cream and freshly-mad guacamole was served on the side! I took my dad for father's day there today. Before going, we knew it was going to be busy. We got there and the waitress told us of a 20 min waiting time. We got there at 5 and we were given a table at around 6. When we were still waiting for a table, a group of 8 people came and got a table right away just because "they had a table with 8 chairs available", and there was a family of 7 people waiting before this group of people came but were not given this table because they were only 7 seriously 🙄. Anyways, we got a table at around 6, 20 minutes passed and no one came to our table. I looked to the table next to us and there was a family who came after us and they had taken their order and served them drinks and chips/salsa. I though they had forgotten about us, so I asked a server if someone was gonna help us any time soon, she seemed mad and just said that she was gonna send someone over. Time passed and no one came. At this point, I got up and walked to another server and asked her if she could help us. Her answer was "I need to finish some drinks first and I'm out of lemons and squirt soda, I'll take your order when I'm done with the drinks sorry" .(how long was it gonna take them to get more limons and squirt soda before she could make the drinks). I felt so bad for my dad. We ended up leaving at around 6:30. 1 and 1/2 hours waisted of our time and were not even offered chips/salsa, not even showing to the table to say something. I ended up taking my dad to his favorite restaurant (Chula Vista restaurant) which I totally recommend. Super nice service, really good food. At the end my dad had his favorite meal, 7 seas soup, and we had a really good not overpriced Carne asada plate. I wanted my dad to try this new place since it looked good, but I learned my lesson. I don't recommend this restaurant at all. This has been the worst service ever.

Hoy llevé a mi papá para el día del padre. Antes de ir, sabíamos que iba a estar ocupado. Llegamos allí y mesera nos dijo que el tiempo de espera era de 20 minutos. Llegamos a las 5 y nos dieron una mesa a eso de las 6. Cuando todavía estábamos esperando una mesa, vino un grupo de 8 personas y consiguieron una mesa de inmediato solo porque "tenían una mesa con 8 sillas disponibles", antes de ellos había una familia de 7 personas esperando antes de que llegara este grupo de personas pero no les dieron esta mesa porque solo eran 7 en serio 🙄. De todos modos, conseguimos una mesa alrededor de las 6, pasaron 20 minutos y nadie vino a nuestra mesa. Miré a la mesa de al lado y había una familia que avia llegado despues de nosotros y ya les habían tomado su orden y les habían servido bebidas y chips/salsa. Pensé que se habían olvidado de nosotros, así que le pregunté a una mesera si alguien nos ayudaría pronto, parecía enojada y solo dijo que enviaría a alguien. Pasó el tiempo y nadie vino. En este punto, me levanté y caminé hacia otra mesera y le pregunté si podía ayudarnos. Su respuesta fue "Necesito terminar algunas bebidas primero y no tengo limones ni squirt, tomaré tu orden cuando termine con las bebidas, sorry". (¿Cuánto tiempo les tomaría obtener más? limones y soda antes de que pudiera preparar las bebidas). Me sentí mal por mi papá. Terminamos saliendo alrededor de las 6:30. Perdimos 1 hora y media de nuestro tiempo y ni siquiera nos ofrecieron chips/ salsa, o agua ni siquiera se acercaron a la mesa para decir algo. Terminé llevando a mi papá a su restaurante favorito (restaurante Chula Vista) el cual recomiendo totalmente. Super buen servicio, muy buena comida. Al final, mi papá comió su comida favorita, sopa de 7 mares, y tuvimos un plato de carne asada realmente bueno. Quería que mi papá probara este nuevo lugar porque se veía bien, pero aprendí la lección. No recomiendo este restaurante en absoluto. Este ha sido el peor...

i'll start with the negative; we showed up about 15 minutes before the end of lunch and it seemed like they waited until after the lunch menu had ended before they came back to our table. Which wasn't a big deal there was just one person in our party that wanted the lunch menu. Also the wait stuff seemed friendly, perhaps a little busy but I feel the one refill that I got on my iced tea should have been offered to me and I shouldn't have had to wait to ask for it. That being said the food and drink were pretty good, my carne asada was perhaps a little burnt, but it wasn't bad and that was my only real issue. One person ordered a combination and they brought out one of the wrong items with it. We double checked with the waitress and despite telling her it was okay that we didn't need it replaced she brought out a replacement item anyway I had no charge which was nice. My daughter said that the cheeseburger and french fries were the best she had ever had, she's four. But still everything was pretty good restaurant was clean atmosphere was nice.
