See's Candies — Local services in Salem

While looking on Google for a good dessert spot at 5:30pm on a monday downtown and not finding anything that suited our needs I noticed See's Candy was still open till 6pm. So we hustled over and picked out our our own 1lb box today for date day. See's Candy is Disneyland to me. Growing up in Ireland my aunt would bring us a box when she was home for the holidays and they were rationed to each of us kids to one choice a day. I would dream about these delicious candies, my favorite being the truffles. In comparison to my childhood this felt super indulgent being able to pick out my own and eat myself sick.. as I am now the boss of myself! OHHHH THE DESTRUCTION!! :) Both ladies working the counter took great care of us and were very personable and funny. Thanks for bringing us joy! Have a great week :)

Update: This year I did the order online pick up in store option, super last minute I ran out of time...the day before Xmas Eve to be clear and it was ready Christmas Eve! I was expecting it to be ready after the holidays on Tuesday after seeing that they didn't do store orders/ pick ups on Sunday after I ordered but the wonderful staff made it happen! Kathleen warmly welcomed me with a delii sample and then brought me my order perfectly packaged and wrapped beautifully. See's Candies brings back memories of the times I'd visit the stores while growing up. I enjoy having a treat every now and then from the candy shop for the nostalgia and delicious varieties. The employees still wear the vintage uniforms in their stores.

The staff is always friendly and attentive when I visit this See's Candies location. They immediately welcome you upon coming into the store and offer a tasty sample while you shop. There are several classic and new chocolates or other treats available to choose from. I highly recommend choosing a few of the different treats in the display cases. There is something for everyone. They also have sugar free options as well. The butterscotch lollipops and cinnamon candies are a fun and delicious treat. The little pops are perfect to keep in my purse since they are individually wrapped.

The prices of the chocolates are a little steep, but they are fairly comparable to most other specialty candy shops. I recommend treating yourself at...

I placed the order on December 07, 2019 and delivery was for December 13, 2019. I am now told to expect it 12/19 as the order went from California to South Carolina, West Virginia, Ohio and finally Illinois! Found out UPS screwed up the shipment. BUT....a telephone call to See’s and I really expected a new order to be next day’d to make up for what will most certainly be stale candy having made a several States transition across America twice. But nope....no action of remedy by Sees for this screw up. I am a 45 year customer who will never buy again! I will receive a stale order of chocolates and fudge after spending $80 for it and NO remedy or refund offered by Sees....I don’t think Warren Buffet bought the company to lose dedicated long term customers.
