Good selection of fishing tackle. Customer assistance at the counter looking for a new work knife was great. Patient and eager to show me several selections and never an indication of frustration while I'm made my choice. However, as though I might steal it, it was taken to the front counter until my other shopping was completed. Bit of a sting. The service at the firearm counter was, to say the least, political. I imagine due to recent news everyone has an opinion about school shootings and assault type firearms. I did not engage ( I was curious if they sold "bump stocks" and I wanted to see one to further my knowledge on the matter) as I was not looking to purchase a weapon. I will suggest that the salesman, knowledgeable as he appeared to be, for the sake of sales for his employer should probably be moved to a different department as his disgust in having to sell these type of firearms was unabashedly obvious. Moving to the checkout counter with nothing more than the $25 sunglasses, tackle box I prefer for my wiring connectors etc.. and the new $109.00 work knife (I suppose for some that is alot but for someone who needs a "tool', that is relatively inexpensive) I called for my items nearly stashed at the service desk, lest I should have run out with them. LOL! I'm a skinny 60 year old. Wonder how far I would have gotten. Not to mention how I would explain to my grandkids why Grandpa's in jail. Anyway, past this, I presented the lady with my business card and selected credit as they did not have a chip reader machine. She requested ID and I explained to her it is a business card and there is no name on the card or a signature on the back. Oh My Gosh. You'd think I just robbed a casino in Las Vegas. She came all unglued on me. Saying she wouldn't accept my business card, I explained to her that business cards don't usually have any names other than the business name. OMG again, just totally being obstinate, I took out my personal business card that has my name on it and told her it's ok, I own the business. She examined it closely, and I do mean closely as well as my driver's license (I was about to offer her a my phone so she could take a picture and expand it) and explained to me that only THIS time would she accept my card. I don't think she has been explained to with regards to the Fair Business Act. The last time I was in this store I was shopping for a Carhartt coat and after politely declining assistance from a floor service person, I kid you not, she watched me try on a couple of coats so closely, hiding behind other clothing racks etc.. that I finally felt so uncomfortable I left and went to the actual Carhartt store and bought two jackets as I was greeted and then left to my own devices and picked out what aired my needs. (They accepted my card ez peeze lol) Unfortunately, this store is the only local sporting good outlet that carries this particular tackle box which suits my electrical needs. In summation, I imagine the counter checker was being over reactive to my business card and or was unfamiliar with them as most people wouldn't consider a tackle box, knife and sunglasses as being a business purchase. As far as the firearm salesman, well it's their bottom line and if they want to draw a political line in the sand then who am I to judge. I hope this box and knife hold up because I REALLY don't want to have to shop here AGAINNNNN. (If I do, I'll bring my discover card instead lol) Hope this helps! (Maybe I just look shady,...
Read moreThis was my first time ordering something from them, and will absolutely be the last. I ordered a jacket from them on December 20th, that the website said was either available for same day pickup at a different (not Salem) store, or next day (the 21st) home delivery. I opted for home delivery, since I figured it would at least save me the gas, and placed the order. The next day, I checked the tracking information, that showed a label had been made, but that was it. Since it was supposed to have been delivered that day, I contacted support to figure out what was going on. The support rep couldn't provide me any additional information, insisted UPS had it, and said I would need to contact them (UPS) for further information. I tried to point out this was at odds with what the tracking information they had provided said, and he abruptly cut off the chat, providing a generic support email address and phone number I would need to contact. So the item didn't arrive on the 21st, and then on the 22nd, I received an email from support indicating it was "on the way" and should now be expected on the 24th. Unfortunately, their delay in shipping it meant it was now stuck in transit while a massive winter storm hit (on the 23rd) delaying the item indefinitely. While I certainly can appreciate that they aren't responsible for weather issues, if I had been made aware that the item WOULDN'T be there the next day, I would have opted to drive up and pick it up in store. So the item finally showed up today (the 28th) a full week after the promised delivery date. Luckily the item was correct, as I half anticipated them figuring out another way to mess the order up. So maybe these guys are fine if you're shopping in store, but they couldn't be much worse, when shopping online. It may sound hyperbolic, but I genuinely haven't had an online retailer disappoint at so many different turns. The jacket is nice, and their price was good, otherwise I would return it just...
Read moreIf I could post less than one star, I would. Me and everyone in my family will not be shopping at Sportsman’s Warehouse any longer. There are plenty of other stores and online retailers that we can shop at. I ordered an item on the website Nov. 15th to be delivered to my local store and on the site it stated “Estimated pickup by Nov. 17th”. I assumed that, because I had seen it was in stock at a store 50 miles away that they would be transferring it from there and I would be picking it up that Friday or Saturday. Nope… I went by the store that Saturday and they told me it had shipped and was supposed to arrive either Tuesday or Wednesday of the next week. So (strike 1) I was misled by the website and if I had known that I would have drove the 50 miles to the other store and picked it up as this was a birthday gift and needed it before Thanksgiving. So, on Wednesday (after jumping through hoops to get tracking information) I had seen that it had arrived at the store that morning. I went to the store and (strike 2) they said no one had received it and to call back on Friday and it would be received. So, I called “Customer Service” on Friday and she said (in a not so friendly tone) she needed to transfer me to the department that handles those items. After sitting on the phone for a good 5 minutes (without even any hold music) I was disconnected (strike 3). No other retailer that I deal with has been so lax with their customer service or makes it so hard to get accurate information about shipping status or when I will be getting my order. Addendum: Finally, on Sunday the 27th, 10 days after when I should have gotten my order I was able to go pick it up. The man who helped me was polite and friendly but reminded me of Flash from Zootopia. I don’t think he had his nap that day… I can’t really blame any particular employee (other than the rude woman that answered my call). But their system needs...
