Dude Donut City — Restaurant in Salem

Use cash only. how do I put this. Food is great and most of the service has been really good. My only issue is I got notified at 11:53 at night that my debit card was used at the donut shop. I have gone here a few times and like most of every place when I use my debit card it goes through instantly before I even hit the front door I'm notified. The last time I used it there was 4 days prior to. And all I went the next work day since I'm working right there I went and talked to the actual owner and he said he couldn't look at my bank statement on my phone he wanted paper from my actual bank I explained to him that the $5 worth of donuts is not worth my time of spending nearly an hour or so to go run down paperwork for him when I had proof in my hand. I explained what I was no longer going to go there he didn't care not even offering me a couple of donuts or anything. A follow-up with that also is that one of my co-workers was in at the Stop & Save and had someone in there talking with the manager of dealing with the same exact thing. I was like really I walked into the Stop and Save myself and they are owned by the same person. Highly suspect 🧐...

Went into the West Salem location. Specifically upfront, I asked if I could get a meal minus the coffee and felt like I was understood. Don’t think it helped that dude behind the counter had a headphone in and was speaking to someone constantly while on the clock… Anyways, I then asked to have double of what I asked for which consisted of two double servings of biscuits and gravy, one with bacon and one with sausage. No sausage and the bacon looks worse than Subway bacon. Kid goes to ring me up and says he forgot my coffee so I repeated myself again, that I requested no coffee where he then proceeded to tell me that the owner told them they couldn’t take coffee off orders and then I said “that’s why I asked before ordering” and all I got was an apology. Got home to find out we only got single servings. And then while I was there, a separate customer came in, walked out moments after for what I’m assuming was for not being addressed to order food or donuts. Wouldn’t waste my time if I were y’all, other places probably have much better customer service. At least that’s been the case most times I’ve gone to Daynight Donuts...

4 star cappuccino 5 star buscuits and gravy 5 star SERVICE 4 star donuts

This place has good donuts, nothing to right home about, but great variety and lovely presentation.

What makes this place a delightful experience though was a top notch espresso bar and one of the best buscuit and gravy dishes ive found outside of my own kitchen and a few rare top notch new orleans high brow cafes

Its rare ill dare venture to ordering a biscuit and gravy after years of so much disappointment from cafes, diners, hipster joints, etc, but occasionally i have a dire craving for one of my favorite foods and feel like rolling the dice.

This place makes a gravy that 1. actually has meaningful chunks of sausage and 2. Is very tasty. While many recipes taste little more than flour water and salt in a glue like consistency. The recipe of this place delights the pallete with rich sausage, robust sage and hints of spices. The buscuit was good- light & fluffy.

Will happily return here anytime im passing through for a far better breakfast than most any diner and enjoy excellent coffee and donuts...
