A downtown Salina Treasure. This place has such a special place in my heart. I have been coming here for nearly a year and the rotating menu is awesome. Every season a change of new breads and pastry. I start every morning off with a slice of their sourdough, rye, or cranberry walnut wheat. Toasted and buttered along with cheese curds and an apple. A perfect and healthy start for my mornings at the house. Their breads are so filling and nutritious and a whole level above the low nutrient carb foams that supermarkets sell as ,”bread.” The weekly rotating menu here brings cuisine and flavors from different cultures and I have been exposed to many foods and tastes I wouldn’t even know existed. Their harissa lamb roll was so good as well as their mincemeat pie. During the winter I get the Pork Chili Verde at least once weekly. Their breakfast egg and cheese sandwich is so wonderful and also enormous so I can easily get two meals out of it. It is by my opinion, easily the best breakfast sandwich in Salina. Not only a great value, but really good and a huge meal for less than 5$. All of the foods here are made from scratch. On Saturdays I like to go there and get their fruit tarts. So light and flaky. This blows the pop tart like objects you find in other stores right out of the water and I would greatly prefer this to a donut any day. Their cakes and other pastries that center around the holidays are wonderful. The honey lavender cake for Mother’sDay was so aesthetically pleasing and decorated. I look forward to them opening every Wednesday to learn about what this weeks special will bring. I am not a vegan but even their vegan options hold up. With fresh mushroom varieties sourced locally from shroom mates and fresh vegetables from other local growers. This place is not only incredible tasting, but fresh and made from scratch. Never tasting processed, but always vibrant and healthy. I give it 5 stars plus an extra star for being uniquely and authentically themselves which is rare. Thanks Seraphim bread. I will see you next Wednesday- Saturday. The days of the week that this restaurant and bakery are closed only leaves you wanting...
Read moreFound this while staying in Salina. A delightful and cozy bakery tucked in between Santa Fe and a parking lot with ample parking. There is an inviting dining area and some outdoor patio seating. It’s a warm and friendly environment that cultivates a sense of belonging and heart centered community. A true reflection of the passion and mission of the owner, whom I met, and authentically models the slogan: “From our hearts to your hands”.
I ordered the Green Goddess grilled cheese with a side of strawberry salad. Ingredients matter. This is one of the tastiest sandwiches I have eaten. You can taste the freshness of the ingredients and the heart that goes into making them. They use organic wheat flour, and fresh local ingredients. Quality of the ingredients makes all the difference. My taste buds are still singing; no photo as I was totally absorbed in the experience created by the carefully crafted food and never thought about it until I ate it all. :)
This is a gem of a find, I...
Read moreWe stopped in for breakfast as we were staying at an Air BNB just down the street. We shared a lemon poppy seed scone which my husband loved- I thought it was a bit dry- I am a scone snob and prefer European style scones the the ones we make in the US but it was tasty. We split the biscuits and gravy. The biscuits were flavorful and a bit chewy. The gravy tasted like paste to me and if it weren't for the bits of sausage it was totally tasteless. I order biscuits and gravy as my standard when trying new restaurants to determine if I would go back. While I enjoyed the biscuits I could do without the gravy so would not order it again. That being said we did stop in and buy some cinnamon rolls and a loaf of Kernza sourdough bread as we were heading out of town. Each of these were delicious. I appreciate that they source local ingredients. Clearly the breads are the star of the show here. I would love to have a Seraphim bakery in KC to purchase the bread on a...
