Update: We are extremely grateful for the exceptional corporate leadership at Daiso. A week after reaching out, their leadership team contacted us to apologize for our experience. They visited the site, assessed it, and retrained the staff to ensure this doesn’t happen again. They assured us the store is now ADA-friendly and safe for all guests, emphasizing their commitment to safety, excellence, and empathy.
Today, we were invited back, and the store was transformed. Everything was orderly, the staff was calm, the shelves were stocked, and there were no boxes on the floor. The leadership team rolled up their sleeves to support the retraining efforts. Our daughter and her service dog truly enjoyed their time today. We will most definitely be back because the items were great, but the level of customer experience from the leadership is truly remarkable. We are thankful for their willingness to listen, address difficult situations, and make necessary corrections. Thank you so much! You truly turned a sour moment into a great one. ———————————————————— We were looking forward to this and then disappointed that our daughter couldn’t maneuver in the store with her service dog (not ADA friendly) and neither was the older individual that came in after us in a wheelchair. Totally understand the high demand, and just disappointed by the response of the team (Stephanie— manager) stating that there was nothing that can be done but could leave if it doesn’t suit us, and refusing to give us contact information to AM. She said she would Google corporate information or I could because they don’t have that contact information. We would have been satisfied with “let’s clear some items so there is walking space” vs “you can leave if doesn’t suit us and not made for a dog”.
Again, it’s unfortunate. This was our second visit and gave grace the first time but it’s evident that safety (boxes piled up that could easily fall on child, blocking aisles to walk, above capacity) is not a top priority.
We did reach out to Daiso and plan to reach out to...
Read moreThere seems to be many white and hispanic people of San Antonio complaining about this store because they simply dont know what it is. This is NOT A GROCERY STORE PEOPLE! This is a JAPANESE dollar store. It is well known and loved in Japan and other big cities in US. The people who know, know. It is like a japanese version of five below. Do not come here and complain about the lack of food selection or compare it to local chinese/thai markets in San Antonio. No one goes to Daiso for the food selection the same way you dont go to five below to buy food. You cannot get what you get here at any other place in San Antonio, including the one Japanese market here. They sell mostly (affordable/cheap) housewares, stationary, dishware, quirky iems, and some accessories. It has always been this way. You will rarely find something over $10 at daiso. Just because there are other chinese, thai, and korean markets in SA, does not mean they need to all be lumped together with daiso, a JAPANESE dollar store. If you are going to go into a dollar store just to complain there are cheap items, please just stay home. San antonio lacks culture and the people in the reviews show exactly why that is.
The store is great compared to other Daisos and a good size. The employees are very nice and helpful. Its a great addition to San Antonio because again we lack diversity and culture compared to other big cities. The only issue I could think of was that when I went last week they had the AC off or either really high. The employees and customers were visibly sweating amd uncomfortable. Especially coming from waiting in line in the heat. But this may be because they just opened and I assume will be fixed...
Read moreI'm glad San Antonio finally got a Daiso, I've been to ones in California and in other parts of Texas. First thing I would say is to look up what they sell before you go so you aren't disappointed if you were expecting a ton of character items. This is supposed to be like a smaller type of dollar tree but not exactly like the one in the US . They have some snack items like candy, chips, some ramen, and drinks but each category has little options but most are things I like. The rest of the items are stationary, house hold items, a little bit of kids toys, kitchen items and a very tiny skincare section. The skincare items are not the kinds that you think like most Japanese beauty skincares. It's cheaper facemasks and some lipsticks (I don't think they are Japanese brands). They do have some lashes but I don't know if they sell out fast. Their items are items like things to store stuff, hang stuff or all the useful little things. Strainers for food..some plates and ceramic bowls, dish sponges, bento lunch boxes. Pens, paper, stickers, storage for your stationary. They don't have a big section of character items like sanrio. You may see a bit of things around the store like disposable storage bags, cups or stuff, or little plastic zip bags but not big items like what you would expect. I've been plenty of times so I know what to expect but I do hope they get more character items because they didn't have as much as other Daisos I've been to. I really do love the store though! I usually find items I want and are...
