I am grateful to the young lady who made it possible for me to be scheduled as an emergency appointent. Again thank you. There were several issues I'd like to address in regards to the service received during and after my appointment.
I waited more than an hour to receive an extremely brief evaluation that required persistent encouragement to the doctor to provide optical medication to releive the visibly uncomfortable symptoms I was experiencing with my eye. I was not requesting narcotics. Had I not mentioned that I recently visited my opthalmologist who's located in a different city, Dr. Thomas would have continued to insist on my us of over the counter home remedies. Certain populations of people continously receive substandard healthcare. Some doctors, not all beleive african american patients are able to tolerate a higher intensity of pain and often under treat or fail to treat pain in this race of people. I wonder if he would have prescribed the same home remedy treatment for his Caucasian mother.
Dr. Thomas was more than an hour late seeing me for a scheduled appointment but had the nerve to have a nasty attitude when he entered the exam room. In addition to his rudness, he did not ask me to schedule a follow- up appointment but instead told me to follow up with my provider in Houston. I would have undersood that suggestion had I gone to ER or an urgent care provider with no optometry experience.
After this horrible experience, I was sent back out to the main waiting area to sit again. I've spent a large part of my morning sitting in different locations in this office. And it wasn't well received when I advised the front office staff I needed to leave.
The last concern I have is with the use of Fabuloso that does not have bacteriacidal, antifungal or antiviral ingredients to clean facilities where contagious people enter daily. Not to mention the strong odor of the cleanser that could possibly trigger an asthmatic person.
I will drive to Houston and follow up with a doctor who I know cares about the health of my eyes and...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreI enjoyed my recent visit to the San Antonio Eye Center. I was establishing as a new patient with Dr. Zediker. Sheās the best! I felt like I was talking to an old friend. During the exam, sheās clear with instructions and patient if you need more time with the lens test- you know, ā1 or 2?ā & ā1, 2 or 3?ā. Sheās very thorough, detailed and informative. She told me a few incidental things about my eyes unknown to me before which I appreciated. She also explained and answered questions about my diagnosed conditions. Thatās more than I can say about my previous ophthalmologist. Another thing: This didnāt bother me because I usually run a little behind schedule; however, when you go for your appointment, allow for enough time between the visit and your next appointment of the day. I say this because I waited for a little over 30 minutes before Dr. Zediker called me back- (was told my wait time had nothing to do with my being a little late). I had a 3:30 appointment, showed up 5 after, was called up by the technician immediately. We did some of the exam up front then went back to an exam room to finish up. Then I was taken to another waiting room until Dr. Zediker was ready for me. I was there until 4:50p so all in all it took roughly an hour and a half. I had my eyes dilated so this could have affected the wait time as well. To summarize, I enthusiastically recommend Dr. Zediker to any new patients. I think sheās getting established in the practice so she has a lot of availability. Sheās a millennial like me but mature for her age. Sheās knows her stuff and has the kind of personality, qualifications and bedside manner that patients of all ages could...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreI have loved my past experience at this place with Dr Scott Thomas. However this time I went 03/05/24 I had a horrible experience. I first want to say the place always looks clean and people who check you in are very friendly. This time I chose a different Dr. to get seen faster because of my eye being in bad pain. I ended up getting Dr George Reyna. I explained to him how my primary care Dr. had put me on a lot of different antibiotics, eye drops and eye creams for my eye, and he thought everything was a joke and said none of that was going to help me. My concerns and my problems felt unheard and just because I am a young adult he felt as if he could talk to me unprofessionally. I had brought my mom to the appointment with me just for support and he kept looking at my mom the whole time he was explaining anything instead of me THE PATIENT. I felt like getting out of my chair mid conversation with him because he made me feel so be little. I too work in eye care health, so I understand but to be little someone when they have serious problems isnāt right. He also rushed me out of there I didnāt even get to ask any questions. The assistant he had that day was very helpful and respectful. It wasnāt right that I paid 85 dollars just to feel uncomfortable and unheard. Also for him to tell me I had to see another Dr that doesnāt have any openings...
