My experience with Lockaway - Encino has been lengthy and the the staff has always been very accommodating. I've been there through three managers now. The better part of my stay (nearly 10 years) I got to know Jerry and Debbie like friends. I miss them very much and hope that they are happy with the next part of their lives.
Having said that, Encino's new manager Kevin has been equally cordial and helpful with all issues to date. My communication and service through him as been exclusively by phone, as opposed to the old days when I'd go by to make a payment and pay a visit the old-fashioned way (FYI...that's how I came to be acquainted with the previous and above mentioned folks). I hope to change that as soon as the dust settles.
Kevin has been very patient/sweet and swift in helping me the last months of this year...through a personal family hardship. He has been kind and efficient in taking my payment by phone so that I could quickly move on to deal with the ongoing 24/7 stressful/painful family situation. It's people like Kevin that made this chapter of life SO much easier to deal with.
I would like to commend the company & owners for choosing such fine people to serve as their managers; ultimately serving people as myself...when life (and our belongings) get put on hold for what (sometimes) turns out to be an 'undetermined amount of time'. I'm sure I'm not the only one in there with a similar story! All is safe and protected. Thank God!
Happy New Year & Thank you...
Read moreThanks to this facilityâs poor customer service and general negligence, I eventually discovered I was paying twice what other storage companies charge. I rented a 10Ă20 space last December and reported to the front desk that the light inside my unit wasnât working. They promised to fix it âsoon,â but three months laterâdespite my follow-up remindersâit still wasnât repaired.
Finally, I filed an online complaint and was stunned when someone called me with every excuse under the sun, detailing their internal repair procedures as if I cared about their bureaucracy. They even had the gall to tell me that lighting âisnât part of the rental.â Unbelievable!
Iâve since moved to Public Storage and now pay $92.00 per month instead of the $172.00 I was shelling out here. Thanks a lot for helping me save money!
Update
After Iâd vacated the unit, they still charged my credit cardâprobably hoping I wouldnât notice. I had to call them to dispute the charge. They called it an âerrorâ and said the money would be returned, though Iâll believe that when I see it.
Bottom Line: Do not use this company for your storage needs. Youâll get screwed sooner or later.
P.S. They advertise a âfree month of rent,â but I never saw...
Read moreMore like a Community note for current and future renters. If you receive mail about huge significant price increase for storage rent..be sure to talk to the manager first. Glad, Corey was at work today. He is manager at the current Extra space Storage. Just like me and many other people got in the mail in the past week or so. Got a notification for 60-100$ price increase in monthly.
Note: 1) that is an AI system they are using to help predict storage prices. You should always discuss the prices with the storage manager first when you receive that notification in the mail
With month to month rent..you risk getting a price increase. It can happen due to a fluctuating economy.
I talked with Corey and he helped me out. Only looking at a small incremental increase.
I hope this post helps you all out with...
