My first eye exam at Eye Theory was in 2023. I recently went back to Eye Theory for my annual exam. During my eye exam in 2023, the optometrist changed my contact/glasses prescription. The optometrist also changed my prescription again at my recent visit. This seemed odd to me since for over 15 years I have had the same prescription from at least four different eye providers. It raised a red flag when my prescription was changed for the second year in a row by Dr. Sanjay Nancheria. I decided to get a second opinion from another optometrist who confirmed that my prescription was inappropriately adjusted by Dr. Sanjay Nancheria. Additionally, the Eye Theory optometrist did not allow me to have a say in if I wanted to change my prescription as I really did not want to increase/change my prescription since I was not having any issues with my contacts/glasses prescription and was seeing 20/20 in my current prescription.
When I checked out at the front desk of Eye Theory, I was not given options as to how I wanted the one lens of my glasses replaced. The assistant said that she had to order both lenses for the frames even though I only needed one lens for the prescription change. She told me that she could not just order one lens. This seemed very impractical to me and as though Eye Theory was trying to rack up my bill. Just for the lenses was an extra $220 on top of my eye exam and purchasing daily contact lenses for the year. I also asked why the lenses were so expensive since I was not paying for frames. The assistant said she charged me for the upgraded lenses. I did not ask for the upgraded lenses and would have appreciated if she would have reviewed my options first before racking up this very costly optometry bill. Additionally, competitors can provide new frames and lenses for much less of the cost Eye Theory was charging me for the lenses alone.
I would encourage the optometrist to promote a patient-centered approach where the patient’s wishes are taken into consideration. I would encourage this practice to review the itemized bill with the patient prior to asking for payment from the patient. I will no longer be receiving my eye care here and would highly caution others against choosing Eye Theory for...
Read moreThis place is amazing. Dr. Sanjay Nancherla has really changed my life. He could have taken advantage of my frustrational situation by ordering fancy contacts for me when I first saw him at his office, and instead, he referred me to get evaluated to have surgery. I would have paid anything to get my vision corrected with expensive materials, but Dr. Sanjay knew I was living a miserable visual situation and he guided me through a different route. I followed his recommendations because I felt right there he was only caring for my eyes health, and what was best for me, even though I didn't know him. Today, I have reached a 20/30 in my post op appointment just one week after a very successful surgery. After being completely blind for my entire life, to see this well is a miracle, and everything has been possible thanks to Dr. Nancherla and Amy. I'm very grateful for them both, and how fast they had the referral and all the paperwork done so I can live a colorful life full of clarity, enthusiasm, and hope. I have no more words to express what I actually feel, how grateful I am, and I lucky I was when I stopped by Eye Theory to get Dr. Sanjay Nancherla's second opinion. THANK...
Read more8/22 - The optometrist and the clerk were both courteous, prompt, understanding and amicable. The services included an opthalmic exam for new patients, refraction, spherical CL fit, and Optos retinal imaging. The Optos was an extra fee under my insurance, but I understand it is difficult to inform patients of the charges for every specific service in a battery.
The optometrist recommended some dry eye drops and we were given multiple samples to test, since there are several varieties in terms of pharmacological composition and viscosity. He also consulted on the possible reactions we could expect and suggested some options for what to do if the eye drops were unpleasant.
The optometrist fitted me for contacts, but the brand he recommended was not covered by insurance. So, the clerk was able to advise me of what brands were covered and he worked with me to review the options and make a new selection.
Overall, I think the clerk and optometrist were flexible and diligent enough to render exemplary service and my time was respected and...
