Avoid campus police as best as you can. They are absolutely the types to look for trouble and harass students. I dropped a friend off to her dorm (i was a student too) and before i could back out the parking spot, a police car blocked me, while 2 more came out of nowhere, and one of them asked "Perez?" I said no in confusion, and they start asking me specifics about what im doing here. "Im just dropping off a friend" "who are you dropping off?" "Just a friend." "Well we need to know who". We went back and forth, and then eventually i gave them my id, only for them to apologize and say they thought i was someone else just because i had the same car. I never reported it but i should have and i regret it to this day. So im at least sharing my experience now, so that you all know what to avoid. Make sure you know your rights before attending here. Title IX cases are through the roof as well, and the office is super biased with every case, and do poor investigations. They've let too many people get away with things, while they break their own policies mid investigation. Good school, but unsafe. Make...
Read moreOverall still a great University but I am concerned on their current admission process, qualifications and outreach. The university may be hurting for funds and appears to enroll less than desirable human beings that tarnishes the creed and honor of UIW alumni and successful, hardworking and productive students who have high values and morals.
I won't go into great detail due to the graphic disdain and harm to especially those of female identity gender but the safety of all great and innocent students is in question and the output of future students may eventually lead UIW to be a less than desirable educational institution to be associated with...I hope whoever is now in charge is replaced with a leader who knows the difference between their own personal selfish agenda and instead fulfilled by an example of one who Understands integrity and creates those who value society as a whole for the better and harnesses their Strengths and Talents for good and...
Read moreI'm neither student or staff, just a passerby who ran out of gas on the ramp nearest the University. I was in my way to Houston from Denver and ran out of gas. I wasn't aware there was no gas station within reasonable walking distance. I stopped at the school maintenance building and Shannon took me to their gas pumps which are tinted with chemicals to be unusable to cars. He then took an early lunch to take my gas can and I to the nearest gas station four Mile's away. My debit card would not work because I used it traveling without calling the bank. Not only did he buy my gas, when he dropped me off at my car he gave me a $100 bill to ensure I would get to Houston without difficulty. If this is the spirit the schools maintenance staff has they have gone to great lengths to ensure all their staff must share this spirit. Thank you Shannon! You were a...
