24 Hour Fitness- UTC — Local services in San Diego

I’ve been a member of this gym for the past year, and I now feel equipped to provide an honest and thorough review.

Pros: • Low membership cost and great location.

Cons: • Poor Cleanliness: This is, without a doubt, the dirtiest gym I have ever attended. The cleaning standards are extremely low. The floors and mats are often so filthy that it’s uncomfortable—and frankly, unhygienic—to touch or sit on them. On the rare occasion I witnessed any cleaning, it involved someone using an outdated and cheap vacuum that I would never use at my own house. • Overcrowded: The gym is consistently overcrowded, making it nearly impossible to complete a proper workout between 7-10am or 5-7pm. Finding available equipment or enough space is a constant challenge. • Maintenance Issues: When equipment breaks, it can take months before it’s repaired.

Given the poor hygiene, overcrowding, and slow maintenance response, I would gladly pay more for a better gym if there were one available here in UTC area. Unfortunately, due to limited options in the area, this is the only choice. I do not recommend this gym. It’s disappointing that the lack of competition allows such low standards...

I’ve been to this 24 a few times because it’s the closest to my boyfriends house and had to switch to the Balboa location because I couldn’t do it. Most of the staff here are really unkind with the exception of a trainer that once helped me and there have been various times I came in and there were 5-6 people behind the desk chatting. This wouldn’t be that big of a deal except the club is the dirtiest 24 I’ve been to. The equipment is regularly all over the place and clearly never cleaned. Their mats and outdoor area smell like they’re growing mildew and the floors seem to rarely be cleaned. For the amount of people that are often on staff it really should be a tad cleaner. I wish I can leave a negative review. I signed up an annual membership but only went there few times due to conflicting of my schedule. A year later, without pre-notification, I was charged on 6/27/24 for annual renewal. I called in immediately to request refund, the staff took my information and said the manager will take care of it , nothing happened. After roughly about a month, I have called them for numerous times, the manager was either absent or in meeting. I figured out they don’t want to return the money , so I had to open a dispute and received conditional credit from my Citi bank. 1 week later , they charged me another 237.96usd, is this a scam ?!!!
