This place is super popular these days. Walk ins are first come first serve so make a reservation if you can. We waited about 15 minutes after our reservation. The front is actually a store that sells very high end bottles of liquor and are displaced in a very eye catching way. The way the fireplace turned was kind of corny though, kind of too obvious for a speak easy.. anyways we were greeted by the hoist once we got inside who sat us at in the back. Lighting was okay back there but it make it a little hard to read the menu.
The table had drawers on it so of course I opened them and found a bunch of napkins with nots written on them, we took them out and started reading them. Some of them were good and some of them were corny, but one of them said “always tip your server” that napkin was under the rest of the napkins, not on purpose but just because it was the first one we read as we went through them. Waiter came and said hi then asked where all the napkins came from and I said they were in the drawer. And wouldn’t you know it she went straight for the napkin about tipping and said “always tip your server isn’t that funny” with a subtle laugh. My cousin and I just kind of stared blankly at her.. it kind of made us uncomfortable like she was trying to tell us something or is she was judging off appearance that weren’t going to?? I don’t know the whole encounter was super uncomfortable.
I had the little red door to drink but I don’t remember the drink my cousin got. The little red door is a gin drink that was sweet but very very strong served with one large ice cube. This drink wasn’t even filled half way but for how little of it there was.. it had a balance.
The table next to us had 8 people with two of our small tables pushed together, it looked like they were trying to have a office outing but their space was too small, and the drinks they had must have been strong because they were talking loudly and were super obnoxious.
We had to flag down our waiter a few times because of where we were sitting we seemed to be forgotten. Anyways the inside was beautiful but the vibe was loud and not welcoming. Was an okay experience but I won’t...
Read moreMy sister and I visited for a special occasion. The liquor store is fantastic. While small, they have an excellent selection of a couple household brands, but primarily smaller labels that you don’t find often in the grocery store. We appreciated that there was a very decent offering of low, middle, and high end price ranges, all fairly unique.
The entrance to the drinks is very fun and the atmosphere of the back room is amazing. We were greeted very graciously and congratulated on our special occasion by our two servers. The drinks were all fantastic. Katie made some wonderful suggestions to us; her knowledge and expertise made our experience absolutely perfect and we ended up trying some new things that were all better than we had even imagined.
Some notes if you choose to visit: it’s a 1.5 hour reservation window, so use your time accordingly. There is no food, so eat before you go. It fills up, even on a Tuesday evening when we went; so make reservations in advance, especially if you hope to go on a weekend. And it is reserved seating with an upscale vibe, not a dive bar; so don’t go intending to mingle about the room or socialize excessively with other guests. It’s a private, intimate atmosphere for individuals or groups of people who want to enjoy good drinks (all of ours were worth the price), great service, and a unique atmosphere, all from the privacy of your assigned seat/table.
All that being said, I do wish they offered peanuts or something small. I understand not serving food at this kind of place. But after a (stunning) tequila flight, some signature cocktails, and a splash of (again, stunning) Scotch.. we were both wishing there was a little bowl of peanuts or something similar to snack on to help soak up all...
Read moreWe recently visited there on 10/12 which was my birthday. Our reservation was @ 10pm. We had dinner @ Din Tai Fung so it’s a short walk from the bar. We got there @ 10:08pm but the receptionist was busy attending to other customers and got to us around 10:20pm. Mind you, we were being patient falling in line. When it was our turn, this lady turned us down because we’re 20 mins late! We said we’ve been standing here waiting and you were not available because you were either attending to other customers or you left the spot and she argued with us that she never left her post for more than 2 mins implying we were lying. And if we still want to go in, the wait will be 20-30 mins. What made it even worse was when she made a snide comment about us sitting on top of each other if we want to go in earlier than that! The audacity of this lady to say these things to us! I don’t know why she works that job if she treats people that way. It got heated and someone else stepped in to help us. I don’t normally write reviews and I’m usually a very chill person but we felt so disrespected by this lady. If you worked on 10/12/24 @ 10pm, you know who I’m referring to. The rest of the evening went smooth. Our server, Christian was very nice and friendly, and gave us good recommendations. I’m giving it 4 stars as respect for the establishment and the servers and the guy who helped us get our table back. I actually love this place to let one human ruin it for me. But she deserves to be put in check for...
