I have used this Amtrak many times. Unfortunately, I will NEVER take this again due to the awful customer service. When the woman working came by and scanned my ticket, she asked me to put my luggage in the holding area. When I did so, other passengers sat in my seat while she watched me put my luggage away already knowing I was sitting there because she marked my destination. I didn't care to make a big deal so I went to the nearest open seat. She proceeded AGAIN to scan my ticket since I had no choice but to move seats and then rudely told me to move my purse. I have always kept my purse next to me without there ever being an issue. There were also plenty of empty seats available I wasn't taking up any room. AND the other passengers around me had their backpacks, purses, even luggage next to them. Her tone, approach, and disrespect was extremely inappropriate so I finally stood up for myself asking her why she wasn't telling anyone everyone around me the same. She said, "I haven't got to everyone." She lied because I asked the people around me if they had been scanned and if they were told to move their belongings and nobody else was told that. The guy behind me said, "I have three bags and she has a purse, what's the deal?" She completely disregarded the comment and said to me, "You're more than welcome to buy the seat next to you!" I couldn't believe it! I had enough. I don't like to write bad reviews but I clearly was being borderline harassed. After her last comment she walked away and I quickly stood up to ask her what her name was so I could talk to a manager or someone in charge. After several attempts, she continued to ignore me and never answered. She then avoided me the rest of the ride (2 hours long). The majority of the passengers on the train also still had their bags and their belongings with them the entire ride. I have a witness who gave me his contact information who saw the entire situation. This happened on Aug. 7, 2017 on the Pacific Surfliner #769 leaving Old Town @9:20AM to Union Station. I WILL NEVER TAKE THIS AGAIN. I would be more than happy to speak to someone further about a sincere apology and a...
Read moreWhen I want to go to central SD via hard rail (AmTrak // Coaster) from North County, you're better off avoiding this TC, and cruise on by to Santa Fe Depot. The hard rails are separated by a fence, and you go underneath it in a tunnel to connect with the Trolley.
But, once you tunnel pass the fence. No one can escape the terrors of the Trolley Enforcement Security (employed by MTS). I grabbed a drink a (overpriced) pack of Cigarettes, when I can tell from a distance—a group of 8 trolleys guards accosted me when they counted three infractions. I figured they were just group training new "cadets". Only one guard had a SDPD badge; they pointed to a non existence sign banning smoking (none visible from where i was). So i concededly put it out to humor them. After all they gotta show the need for citations to inflate their budget, and prove that they're doing something. They asked if I was taking the transit line which i replied 'im waiting for the hard rail to take me to North County' which it was 40 min from then.
"well if you're not taking transit you had no real reason for being here, the signs says you aren't allowed to loiter here." At this point i assume he misheard me. After all, i had spent nearly $20 at the old town deli which is only teh trolley line. I didnt feel like explaining to a group of MTS pensioners, that is by definition the opposite of loitering. If they would have cited me i have had a field day at the courthouse. Anyway, i crossed the tracks, to the hard rail lines. And i smoked a cigarette in front of them illegally (they dont have JurisD on the hard rail).
Anyway, at SantaFeDepot, they have a DSA, and no trolley cops insight. Where was MTS Security when a deranged homeless guy followed me to the trolley sta. , pullled A knife on me, then threw a brick towards my...
