Racine & Laramie Tobacconist is a must-visit for anyone exploring Old Town San Diego. Established in 1868, it proudly holds the title of California’s oldest tobacconist, blending rich history with a carefully curated selection of fine tobacco products. The shop exudes old-world charm, with its period-inspired interior and knowledgeable staff who are happy to share the history of the store and the art of fine tobacco. Even if you’re not a smoker, Racine & Laramie is worth a visit for its historical significance and unique atmosphere. Stepping inside feels like traveling back in time to the days when San Diego was a bustling frontier town. From cigars and pipes to rare accessories, the shop offers something special for collectors and enthusiasts. It’s a true Old Town treasure and a great stop for anyone wanting a taste of San Diego’s past!

Amazing, Amazing. Very quaint, exquisite and unique. A one of a kind tobacco shop. You would be hard pressed to find anything like it anywhere else and I mean anywhere else. Some of the prices are a bit high compared to online retailers but you get what you pay for and you are not going to get the experience this shop gives you ordering from a computer. It's a must visit for anyone site seeing or looking for fine tobacco products. To the owners and employees of this shop, I was well pleased with the entire experience of shopping here today. Thank you.

This place is not only built on history it is full of it. One of the finest collections of pipes I have seen in a very long time.the collection of lighters cigarettes match boxes etc… even the furniture in the sitting area has a pair of chairs that go back to Pancho Via and the founding of the west. They have a good selection of some of the harder to find cigars like the Arturo Fuente unwrap and Maduro along with some of the harder to find Rocky Patel, Placencia. The gentleman there has a knowledge of the establishment an how it is one of if not the oldest longest open tobacco shop in the west. I know there is nothing as old and open in the Bay Area, and LA area. This place has been operating since the 1800s and there decor inside proves it. I will visit this location every time I’m in SD. The prices are slightly higher as it is California, I’m use the Az, Tx, and Florida prices. California needs to get over there taxing Cigars and...

To start this off, I came to this store for knowledge and recommendations. They did not disappoint at all. Walking in you feel like you traveled back to the early 1900's. The whole shop feels like an old western trade store. Crammed to the brim on all shelves bit, yet organized. A sight to behold for sure. Staff greets in a western vibe, decked out in full attire for the location. So after picking their brain for a bit was recommended a nice cigar to pair with my whiskey and the proper way to enjoy it(being my first time indulging this) by the time my visit was over I left with way more info than I expected and the easiest cigar purchase I could be imagined. Given the right info staff was able to single out a few brands and work with me from there. Once narrowed down more it was purchase time and good to go. If you want smoke shop that has knowledgeable people and interesting environment, you'll totally want...
