In short; Had fun Worth the money Would recommend (ok, maybe a little obvious) Worth doing again...though maybe not right away (see below).
I'm going to attempt to address the rude part up front, since it had me a little concerned from the reviews. He was NOT rude. I would also state that he is not really an entertainer either, as you get with other ghost tours. i.e. he is not all smiles, bubbly, willing to go along with nonsense for the sake of a dollar. He is informative, states it how it is, and does joke around a little here and there.
The tour is his experiences over the last 10+ years of personal ghost hunting....and wow, he has spent a ton of hours up late at night, which you get from his talk.
He walks around old town, reasonable pace, and stops at over a dozen locations to recount his experiences, many of which are not trivial in my view pt. He also gives a little history on certain areas for better understanding or where the activity might be coming from.
At the conclusion of the walking portion of the tour, he has a seating area, where he brings out a audio system and flat screen TV to show you things he has - EVP, video, and stills. Some quite impressive.
His whole tour is rather deadpan for the most part (maybe part of what people outside the tour thought was rude). He tells you what he experienced, and lets you determine what you will from it. Even with the EVP, video, and stills; he does not try to interpret what you see and hear. He presents it, lets the group say what they saw or hear, then offer what he or others have seen or heard. He also points out where people can interpret more than there is...such as in orbs. Though he does have images that are quite compelling in that area.
All in all, I would do this again, but since this is on his experiences, it has limited immediate replay value, as additional information will be added as he experiences it. There were a number of notable points during the tour that were worth the time and money.
Highly recommend if you like more realistic ghost hunting type shows, over the sensationalistic shows. If you think every dust particle is an orb, and every camera strap a ghost, this is...
Read moreI hope this is a fair review as i can understand why reviews would be mixed. Some people will like, others will hate. You really just have to go and form your own opinion and not rely to heavily on others.
If you like to learn history not only on the guide's experiences but of Old Town San Diego then you will like this. The bulk of the tour was just that, a guided tour. Yes the guide sounded as if everything was per-recorded, but the gentleman does this several times over the weekend. What would you expect?
So as for "ghosts". If you do like ghost hunting or using "gear" there are specific times when this happens and that is what i found most interesting since that is what i was looking for. No i didn't see a ghost per say, but ghosts don't appear on queue either so some slack has to be given. Those who watch shows like ghost adventures have to realize they film for hours with several different cameras. here you get a 30 minute shot with an simple electromagnetic field device. The best part was the cosmo hotel ghost hunt.
So all in all for the price it was a pretty good. I would recommend the guide to give more time on the hand held devices than history. I think most people unfortunately think that is what will be done from the start....
Read moreI brought my two granddaughters and their three friends to Old Town San Diego during their summer vacation 2019, when we came upon the Cosmopolitan Hotel they immediately recognized it as being a haunted hotel they had seen on UTube , they were very excited. Outside there was a sign for Ghost Tours, we called and were able to get a tour for that evening, we met Michael Brown owner guide at 10pm, he was great with the girls, they excitedly asked alot of questions and he patiently spend alot of time answering them, we toured the hotel and other spots in Old Town believed to have paranormal activities, Michael was very good and totally kept the girls captivated the whole time, they were especially enthralled with the meters provided as we walked through the hotel, he was very knowledgeable and made this a great experience for the girls, they couldn’t wait to till their friends back home I would highly...
