I’m so grateful I found Yoga Jai Ma’s prenatal yoga classes! I had attended prenatal yoga at other studios (and YouTube) during previous pregnancies, and it was all fine and glad it got me moving gently. When I was searching for a local class during this pregnancy, the only one that aligned with my schedule was prenatal yoga at Jai Ma on Monday evenings. It said it included a group discussion session beforehand, which I was a little apprehensive about, as I had already been through 2 previous “birth classes” for other babies and didn’t feel I needed more. Oh how wrong I was. I signed up to give it a try anyway, and the group discussion is NOT some clinical worker telling you how to swaddle a newborn. It is actually a grounded, wise, trained, caring, professional, strong woman guiding us into motherhood. Each week has a different theme that is actually useful to birth and postpartum, and things I have never learned during previous pregnancies that I wish I had. Shelley really listens to everyone’s thoughts, and makes sure we all feel included and heard. It is because of this class and Shelley that I feel confident and eager to birth my baby unmedicated, however, there are plenty of moms in the class who have different birth plans and wishes, and they are all welcomed and supported. We’ve all learned new things and can all leave the class confident and empowered to grow into our new selves, comfortable that we’ve become a part of this sisterhood, and eager to return for postpartum yoga or birth...
Read moreI started with Yoga Jai Ma in August of 2023. It has been a transformative experience. Every Yoga Jai Ma class participant and instructor I have met have been wonderfully inclusive, friendly, accepting, patient and interested in each other's well being. It's become a community of kindred spirits for me. I had never taken yoga before Jai Ma. If you want to have a wonderful experience in practicing yoga in a supportive, restoring environment, this is it. Don't be afraid of joining a class because you think you are not "at the right level". All of the instructors I know welcome first timers, newbies with a supportive attitude and great patience. They are interested in the student achieving the results they are looking for, not expecting results on a time table. You will not find a better community to practice yoga than Yoga Jai Ma. Huge standing ovation and shoutout to Nita (the owner) for having developed Yoga Jai Ma into what...
Read moreConnection, community, union: these are just a few of the words to describe this wonderful studio. Whether you're in search of a hard vinyasa, gentle, hatha, restorative, and/or variations of all (and prenatal too!), this studio is for you. And, if you're not feeling like asanas, just come and enjoy, let go, and breathe. No judgement. No worrying that someone else is "flexy" and looking at you. Yes, it's ok to be flexy but this studio is open and welcoming to all. I found the studio by accident about 4 years ago (it was next to my dentist and senior services) and knew immediately I had found a wonderful home/sanctuary. Full disclosure: I took teacher training here 2 years ago to enhance my practice. It was one of the best things I've ever done. I'm 65, and love my fellow yogis - irrelevant of their age. Do yourself and your loved ones a favor: visit Yoga Jai Ma. I know it will be...
