Barcha is a one of a kind experience and one I cannot get out of my mind. From the moment my guests and I walked up, we were amazed. We saw the patio aglow in orange light from the heaters, cozy and inviting. Just perfect for a brisk, San Francisco evening out.
Once we entered we were immediately greeted by the host, who was just lovely and made us feel at home. He led us to our table, and what a table it was. We were there to celebrate a birthday and asked for something special and intimate. Barcha and it's staff did not disappoint. I truly believe we were sat at the best table in the restaurant. We sat down and we were escorted into another world. The ambiance was electric, the staff was amazing and so attentive, the energy in the building was palpable. Our server, i believe her name was Nina, forgive me if I am mistaken. She was wonderful. She was elegant and effortless in the way she served our dishes and simultaneously cleaned the table without us even noticing.
The food was next level, surpassing even my highest expectations. We ordered three small plates for the table; the Barcha Spreads, the olives, and the spiced beef dumplings. All of our appetizers left us wanting more. We also ordered the lamb kefta skewers and as someone who has never had lamb... I am a changed woman. It was decadent, to say the least. For our entrees, we ordered the market fish, which I believe was Branzino that evening, the Persian Tahdig, and the half rack of lamb. These dishes were beyond delicious. Everything about them was perfect. I personally had the Tahdig and I cannot recommend it more highly. The duck, the saffron rice, the berries-- a masterpiece.
One final highlight of the evening and one that is worth the trip in itself, is the manager Kosta. He will take the best care of you without a second thought. I read reviews about Barcha and was impressed, but nothing intrigued me more than reading about Kosta. He came and touched our table, very early on and it really elevated the experience. I knew we were looked after and that if we needed something, he would do his best to accommodate it. He's also the sweetest man, i would absolutely introduce yourself if you get the chance.
I plan to take another trip to the bay for another special day in October. Barcha is my first and only choice. Do yourself a favor and go dive into the beautiful world that is Barcha.

Read moreMy taste buds have never experienced such a gastronomic delight as they did at Barcha Mediterranean Restaurant! From the moment we arrived, we were welcomed with open arms. Every dish that was served brought us closer to food heaven, making every second we spent there an unforgettable experience.
To kick off our culinary journey, we indulged in the mouth-watering Moroccan Cigars - a flavor explosion of lamb, mushrooms, gruyère, and cinnamon, paired with a tantalizing tamarind-mint chutney. And let's not forget the Barcha Spreads - a magnificent medley of baba ghanoush, labneh, muhammara, hummus, and bazlama that danced on our tongues.
For our main courses, the Persian Tahdig was the true star of the show, with its crispy saffron rice, duck leg, onions, barberries, fried egg, harissa yogurt, and herbs. The combination of crispy rice, juicy duck, and crispy onions was a symphony of flavors that left us weak in the knees. And the lamb shank leg with couscous was an absolute knockout, with tender meat that simply melted in our mouths.
As if that wasn't enough, we were served the divine Affogato - vanilla soft serve, and espresso, were delicious, and the Chocolate Cake was a sweet ending that left us wanting more.
Although the lighting kept adjusting during our time there dim to bright and keep going from our stayed from 6 pm - to 8 pm, it was hard on our eyes.
All in all, Barcha Mediterranean Restaurant offers more than just a meal - it is a journey through the Mediterranean region's culinary delights. Every dish served was a masterpiece, and the warm welcome made us feel like we were part...
Read moreThis is honestly the best dining experience I’ve had in San Francisco! Starting from the top; the service, ambience, and most importantly the food quality here is simply exceptional. Its so good that I dined here twice in one week, even though I’m a local.
I can say that the Persian Tahdig is seriously one of the best dishes I’ve ever had. It’s a modernized version of “zereshk polo ba morgh” for people familiar with Persian food, but this is served with perfectly cooked duck and has harissa yoghurt and an over easy egg to bring it together. Legit every item I’ve had has been delicious, you really need to get a few things to share (Moroccan cigars, fatoush salad, and the spiced beef dumplings) are so good too.
I had the pleasure of meeting chef Santos tonight, who helped explain the food and the thought behind each dish. He is extremely passionate, informative, and hilarious. I can tell that he truly cares about every dish that leaves the kitchen, and he was awesome to talk to. Also both times that I was here had Asma taking care of the table which brought the whole experience together with her kindness, humor good vibes, and superb service. So lucky to meet both of them.
I promise you If you come here you’ll leave happy. Don’t forget to end the meal with a bakhlava which they have delivered fresh everyday. It’s not overly sweet or syrupy like other places, and is complimented with the coconut cream. Can’t wait to come back and try more items! I feel like each bite of food I’ve had here has been perfect and consistent.
Keep up the great work, I look forward to...
