Great place for The Amtrak Rail Bus (Incoming / Outgoing)…. There are places to sit and wait for the bus or Uber / Lyft Rides.
When we arrived at night it was our first time in the area… we were able to use the bus to go a few stops away to our hotel. We highly recommend the “Clipper” app for bus, tram, rail, and Bart preloaded pay passes.
On the way home to Southern California, we took the 10:10am Amtrak Rail Bus to San Luis Obispo. While waiting for the bus we went to the nearby Philz Coffee for breakfast and coffee. The Amtrak Rail Bus arrived on the dot. The Amtrak drivers are very good at what they do and make sure everyone is on the bus promptly.
Our incoming Bus Driver broke up a fight with an irate rider and stayed calm and in control with us passengers. The called Amtrak Security and were able to continue as scheduled.
Overall this whole Amtrak experience was a great one and, we’d love to ride again. Gas isn’t getting any cheaper anytime soon. For a visit to San Francisco it’s better to take public transit or rail. With the combo journey of rail and bus, it’s a relaxing trip to meditate, pray, sleep, listen to music, or just enjoy surfing the web, playing games, streaming tv, chatting or going on Facebook, Instagram, or TikTok.
I don’t miss driving at all and I have driven back and forth to the Bay Area for several years back in college. It’s nice to not worry about driving and to trust in the rail system.
The Amtrak internet could use some work as the connection is poor, the connection works well on GPS apps if you want to keep track of positioning and it might be able to let you surf a little.
In the Philippines when I had visited their buses blow this Amtrak away, there’s no excuse Amtrak, fix it your internet sucks! Thankfully my T-Mobile data plan wasn’t used up with their so called (Unlimited Data Plan…. And there’s another false promise, Unlimited but after 50gigs it’s turtle slow)
This overall experience was great, could be better if I didn’t have to use up a lot of my data plan. It would be a good idea to preload your phone with music and other video or movies as the connection gets...
Read more[2024 update] It was moved again—now at the intersection of MISSION & FREMONT, outside the Salesforce Transit Center’s Fremont (east) entrance. Amtrak’s address is incorrect. Wrong label (suggested edit to Google Maps): it should be “Bus Pickup for Amtrak San Francisco” for the transfer bus to go to Emeryville Amtrak to catch the actual trains (Capitol Corridor or San Joaquin). It is right by Chase Bank on Mission and is actually less exposed than the old Ferry Building stop—the building next to Chase Bank has a lobby that’s one of the “public plazas” throughout Downtown San Francisco that you can use. The bus pickup was punctual and the driver was friendly (much improved from the past). You can always use Amtrak’s app to check the bus/train status, or sign up for delay alerts when you purchase...
Read moreWe arrived on a Sunday to #Emeryville late by an hour around 5:30 the #Amtrak chartered motorcoach was standing by, they were supposed to take us to Salesforce Tower. We put 2 bags in the undercarriage of the bus and asked the driver to be sure we were going to Salesforce Tower, he said they moved the drop off point but it was close. That’s okay but when you get to San Francisco you get dropped on the street with no where to shelter and the driver said “CALL AMTRAK IF YOU ARE DISSATISFIED”. It was cold and windy and thought we would have had a place to shelter until we got picked up to go to our hotel. Ask, ask, ask. I would have called the door man at my hotel and had them pick us up in a nice car in Emeryville and taken straight to the hotel for a few...
