A WALK IN THE PARK
A man and his two children rode down a walking path in the rose garden on their bikes that is marked with "no bicycles/ no skateboards" without leaving very much room for my dog and myself. My dog has fear of wheeled vehicles.
Moments later we came across a small group of segways (maybe 8 or 9, including the guide) coming down another walking path that intersects both the sidewalk on JFK and the road that enters stow lake-- closed to through traffic. They showed no sign of slowing down so my dog and I stepped off the sidewalk onto the road where we headed to the bathrooms (and then to continue our walk around the lake). The segways turned onto the same road as us and made no effort to keep their distance. Instead of enjoying our walk my dog is continuously anxious by wheeled vehicles who don't understand that a wide road means they can and probably should keep their distance.
When I yelled to the people (so they could hear me, not simply to yell) to keep their distance the guide turned back and told me I "could also walk on the sidewalk." Rude and/or ignorant. Is he daft? Unaware? A city kid that doesn't understand animal behavior?
In any regard, his response demonstrated the behavior of a person that is not able, or perhaps willfully chooses, to disregard others. Until this behavior changes by your staff and riders I will not point tourists or my visiting friends and family to your company.
The park is for a city nature retreat, for exercise, for enjoyment. Segways could be integral in that. Respect nature. Respect me. Respect my dog....

The staff are incredibly friendly, helpful, and should be doing comedy on a stand-up stage. We took our Segway tour with our leader Sundog. This tour begins with a hands on experience using the Segway. There is a video explaining how to get on and off your Segway and how to operate it safely. Next, your guide gives you individual training with the Segway. Once they are sure you know how to use it, off, you go on an amazing adventure. Sundog, took us through the park, explained the different species of Flora throughout the park, gave us an interesting history of the people that created the park and background history of San Francisco itself. The tour was supposed to last 2 and 1/2 hours but it went on a little longer, which I was very grateful for. We stopped several times at interesting spots. We also got to taste some very delicious edible plants. If you are a history and nature buff, you will love this tour. If you our adventurous you will love the segways. I highly recommend this tour. You will...

The guides are fairly knowledgable (though, personally I had a bunch of questions about the flora and our guide was unable to answer, but it was very still beautiful and fun). It's really very easy to learn how to ride a Segway so don't hold back! The take you on and off-roading too! Such a blast! They even have gloves you can borrow (it's so brisk and windy in SF - they're a must!), we thought that was...
