Food was ok nothing special. I got the mochi ice cream and dorayaki. However, the service was terrible. The staff was so rude and shouted at me. I'm kinda traumatized to go back there to be honest. Story below.

I came with my partner and baby in a stroller. Seeing that the main tables near the servers were full and we can't seem to bring the stroller inside so I decided to use the tables just above the stairs (it even said reserved to tea house customers so I guess we're allowed to use it). After ordering and claiming the food I tried to bring up the food to our table but the staff (or maybe the owner or manager idk) shouted at me that I'm not allowed to bring my food there (there was no sign so I didn't know). I just tried to explain that my baby's stroller can't go down the stairs (I'm just explaining, not demanding but I will of course follow if it's really not allowed) but he still shouted at me and took my food and quickly transferred it to a to-go box. He could've said it in a nicer or less rude way without shouting. The way I got treated was as if I committed a crime or tried to steal food but it was already prepaid upon ordering. Definitely ruined my day and I feel like i didn't deserve to be shouted at. NO OTHER SERVER HAS EVER TREATED ME THAT WAY. Because of that incident, obviously i didn't...

Hello, I’m writing this as I’m standing in the street due to the line that extends 300 feet out of the main entrance into the street creating a safety hazard to autonomous vehicles and pedestrians alike on bikes trying to navigate their way through the river of people waiting to get checked in, which I might add may have already paid and agreed to whatever terms that you may need to agree upon. All I’m saying is this is a problem, and frankly disrespectful of people’s time and safety. There should be a fast pass system for entry for people who have already paid etc.. This is not zen if you start by dodging bikers and cars to stay in the weave of a line to gain access by the one ticket booth agent available. 10 minutes have past and still 150 feet to go. Otherwise seems like a great place to spend some of your day if you don’t mind being patient with a management team that can’t seem to find a way to resolve this issue, it’s only San Fran 2024, I’m sure it’ll be a few more years before this kind of cutting edge technology becomes available to help address this issue. Oh and they don’t do refunds if you get there and don’t want to wait. Oh wait it gets better…the girl who made us wait in line after advising her that we paid online in advance made us wait all that time just to...

A small little tea house in the Japanese Tea Garden. I didn’t think you could actually enjoy tea in the tea garden (funny, right?), so this was really exciting.

Unfortunately, I can’t tell you about the tea, since I ordered some miso soup instead. You can order to-go or for-here with cash or card, and they’ll bring your food to your spot after paying. It was fine, a little pricey, of course. I would say this item was worth about 2 or 3 dollars, but it cost me about 5. It tasted like most miso soups I’ve had at sushi places, but what made it so special was the view and the setting in which I ate it. Even a tiny bowl of soup with a plastic spoon in it looks incredible with the garden as a backdrop.

Get something small and cheap here if you’re really hungry, and eat a real meal outside. The price is mostly for the atmosphere and the experience rather than the food or service....

The location here is fantastic. It's very relaxing to drink tea amidst the beautiful gardens. The tea itself is good, but not incredible. The snack selection is nice, but again nothing amazing. The prices are reasonable. The service is kind of slow, but admittedly we were there at a pretty busy time; I'm not sure if that's always the case. Overall the location carries this experience, and the offerings are good enough to not distract. Definitely worth stopping for a moment to relax.
