the hamon observation tower is an absolute must visit because it is FREE and it does offer a 360° view of san francisco which depending on the weather you can see a lot of it. i did take 1 star away because of the awning or roof on the outside which for taller individuals like myself had to duck a little bit to see some of the more distant views and/or other buildings in the distance which wasn't that big of a deal but just wanted to let others know who might see this. i'd definitely set aside at least 10-15 minutes to come up here and enjoy some of the views. surprisingly when we visited it was empty with no people for those 10-15 minutes so we were really lucky and we...

The Hamon Observation Tower is not my go-to place to view the skyline, but it’s a must-see if you are in the area or visiting the DeYoung Museum. You get a 360 view of San Francisco from the middle of the Golden Gate Park in an enclosed observatory. The downtown area is quite far away, but if you bring binoculars, you can see it much clearer. You can also see the Presidio, the Golden Gate Bridge, and the Sutro Tower from here. There are a few benches to sit on and admire the view, as well as a gift shop stand. I purchased a poster of an aerial view of SF there....

Cool spot with a 360° view. It's best to come on a sunny day so you can actually see it, but it's neat to watch the fog roll in, too. Of the 4 times I've visited here, the tower was closed twice for reasons that were not apparent so I guess you just have to hope that it will be open when you want to check it out. The museum and tower are closed on Mondays as well. It would be cool if they could do something in conjunction with Cal Academy's Night Life events and have some open...
