Giant Safety Pin — Attraction in San Francisco

It is, indeed, a giant safety pin.

You wouldn’t think too deeply of it when you first see it, but the art comes across as pretty clever once you read the meaning of it. Giant models of normally small objects were never really impressive to me as works of art, but it does give you a new perspective.

It’s too bad that the sculpture has been used as a toilet by birds. The trees by the walkway also cover up part of the sculpture when their leaves are full. Other than that, it’s a giant...
