Yat On Gift Shop — Local services in San Francisco

Sadly I didn't read any of these reviews before I walked into this shop and I doubt anyone else will either, but just to vent, I had a similar experience.

Was quoted one price for a mahjong set and while the shopkeepers kept us busy regaling us with stories of dishonest customers, they cheated me also of $10. Since I paid cash to avoid the add'l 3% charge, I can't even contest the purchase via cc.

They also tried to charge double the price for White Flower, but since I knew that was high, I went across the street and purchased the item for a proper price.

My daughter and I visited this little shop in China Town and the couple that owned it were soooo sweet and accommodating. They were the most pleasant shopping experience we had there during our trip. They were kind, funny and helpful. They even prepared custom Chinese name drawings for my daughters family with what the names and symbols mean with what year they were born in.

They overcharged me and my friend. They didn’t give an itemized receipt after I paid by credit card (just a total) and when I confronted them they claimed to have “accidentally” charged me twice for a shirt. She just gave me cash back rounded down and didn’t even give exact change. Really annoying and dishonest. Hate to be leaving this review as I want to support small businesses in Chinatown but I can’t get behind one that scams it’s customers all day long. Based on yelp reviews they’ve been doing this for years too....
