I love their bakery, the produce is fresh & great prices on most of the "fresh deli"(prepared hot foods) are disgusting. Everything is old, stale or bland..
I waited behind 2 guests, when I walked up to place my order, An old male employee cut in front of me to place a taco plate order, but then returned to ask for a fresh water drink, but then he returned again to ask for a paper towel. Couldn't he have placed his order before his break? When they finally got to me, the food prepper seemed so annoyed to be doing anything at all, including taking my order. Each burrito came with 3 scoops of meat, but before we even got started, I asked if she was going to get more meat cause I was ordering multiple burritos with that particular meat. She rolled her eyes and said she'd get more if necessary. On the last burritos, she was trying to tell me that the two scoops of meat were enough and they don't have more meat. It's almost 5pm. How are you out of meat before dinner time? The rice was so stale, the grains had dried out, and it was hard. The salsa tastes disgusting, red & and green. It's just trash. It was odd that all the employees behind the counter kept staring at us like we weren't welcomed there. Like we were interrupting their get-together.
It's a mexican market not a mexican restaurant, what did I expect? Something that tasted good and wouldn't get me sick.
There's a Santa Fe and La Plaza closer to my home, I was just in the area. Lesson has been learned, never eat...
Read moreI recently stopped by Cardenas Supermarket for a quick grocery run, primarily focusing on fresh produce. I was pleasantly surprised by the reasonable prices for the items I needed, which included bell peppers, lettuce, cucumbers, and a few other essentials. The variety and quality of the produce were quite satisfactory, and I managed to find most of the items on my list without any hassle.
The checkout process was quick, with a short line at the register. However, I did encounter a frustrating issue with the self-checkout register. It seems that the register has trouble accurately reading the weight of scanned items once they're placed on the scanned side. This glitch led to multiple instances where I needed to seek assistance from the attendant to resolve the problem. While the staff was helpful and responsive, having to repeatedly ask for help was a bit bothersome and slowed down the checkout experience.
Despite the self-checkout hiccup, I appreciate Cardenas Supermarket's competitive prices for produce and the overall range of products they offer. It would be great if they could address the self-checkout issue to make the shopping experience even more convenient. Nevertheless, I'm satisfied with the variety and cost of the items I found...
Read moreNot the best Cardenas, the other one near the O’Reilys seems to be better. We’ve been here when it used to be Mi Pueblo and Mi Pueblo was way better than what it is now. The quality of everything has gone down and I think what has affected it the most is the taqueria and the staff. The tacos used to be made with really fresh corn tortillas, now they’re made with some whole grain tortilla or something because they’re dark. With the staff that’s a whole different thing, this place is understaffed, there are not enough cashiers and simply just not enough staff. We’ve had one bad experience where one of the ladies that worked there started arguing with my mom and then another time was when we were trying to get a cake for my sisters birthday and nobody was there at the panadería. We had to get some other staff member who was kind enough to help but it just wasn’t enough because she put the cake in a box the wrong way and the cake started moving around so we didn’t end up buying it. The lady who helped us told us that the staff member who was supposed to be at the panadería left because she said she wasn’t...
