I don't normally write "bad" reviews but I hope that maybe Sweet Fix can improve on some of my quibbles!
First, the ice cream. I am a big fan of ice cream; and this was my first visit here. While the ice cream is good enough, sadly that's really all I can say. On the plus side, Sweet Fix has a big selection of flavors...including "Mud Slinger" AKA mud pie. :) All the rest of my experience was blah. Customer service felt rushed for no reason (there was no line behind me) and the worker behind the counter told me to enjoy my ice cream before I had even paid for it. Which brings me to... Pricing. Pricing is steep considering the neighborhood, and not all that competitive to other shops in SJ. For a $6 single scoop, I can buy a full size container of 'super premium' ice cream at Trader Joe's, go across the shopping center to Target for some organic frozen 100% fruit bars, or go to my favorite creamery also in SJ, and only pay about $1 more.
Lastly, the location. If you are selling a good, tasty product, it's all about location! The front windows in the shop appear grimy before you even step in the door but it's not actually grime, it's a mix of soap scum and sticker/decal residue as you approach closer. A power washing (or heck, just daily washing) would be a positive; maybe replacements are in order. To the naked eye, those windows be lookin' rough, frankly. Don't forget to grab napkins while you pay, it's your only chance to unless you want to ask an employee. Outside, you must brave whatever the temperatures may be due to no indoor seating. Litter all over the parking lot, and just a generally trashy/dirty vibe await you, as you stand, scarfing your ice cream before it melts (in my personal case).
While the ice cream is good enough, my overall experience leaves me...
Read moreSat outside to finish eating our Wingstop tonight before getting ice cream when a female Mexican employee approached me and rudely asked me and my partner to move. This was fine. I get it don’t sit on our rinky-dink dull pink painted chairs out front with no intention of buying anything. But it’s when I notified her that we were getting ice cream right afterwards then we would be on our way she said, unless we were getting it at that moment and were active paying customers we would have to stop eating and move immediately. Stopped eating and went inside the completely customerless store and bought a two dollar cookie instead so we could finish our meal in peace. 1 star for the rude employee saving us money and for the nice employee that was sweet and heated up my cookie. Cookie 7/10. Sure their ice cream is good, too bad I’ll never know now thanks to this interaction. I would think that having more than two tables would be recommended, if this store ever saw the need, but I’m sure that it would be hard to fill due to the trash left unattended or the amount of people chain smoking on the corner. If that’s not enough reason then the lack of lighting and the off putting people transiting the area should be. Really a grab and go type of place only interested in a financial transaction and not a human interaction. It seems like, judging from the past reviews that this place might of been a half decent experience when it opened it doors 5 years ago but was hit hard by the pandemic and resistance to change in the face of it. Instead they chose to take it out on their employees creating a not-so-friendly work environment leading to the recent streak of bad...
Read moreThe ice cream and the Italian ice is delicious. However, the customer service and they cones are not up to par.
On one visit, I ordered one of their specialty cones. When I bit into it, it was stale.
On the next visit, I brought my own mason jar (didn't want to get another cone but also didn't want to create extra waste by using one of their plastic containers). The worker helping me told me that she can't take my jar (that's fine, I understand there are rules to follow, even though I may not agree with them). When I asked her if they had a container that wasn't plastic, she offered me a plastic cup. Thankfully, the other worker overheard the conversation and offered to give me a compostable bowl.
In the last 2 visits after that, I asked if I could have my order in the compostable bowl. I was told no each time and my order was put in a plastic to go container. My friend asked if she could have hers in a cup since she was driving and she could leave it in the cup holder. They told her no (even though they had them and packed similar orders before ours in them) and packed her order in the square plastic container instead. Unsure of why they have such strict policies, but they haven't contributed to a positive customer experience 4...
