Well laid-out museum that presents in accessible format the fascinating but perhaps overlooked history of this vital part of the East Bay. Docent volunteers are helpful and friendly, and they go to great lengths to create events for kids. A particularly nice discovery was the film series--free matinees of feature films with a historical context. In one afternoon my family enjoyed an amply stocked Lego area for kids, a beautifully detailed but digestible array of historical exhibits (from the Ohlone to the Californio era to the 20th century's transition from agriculture to industry) and a Henry Fonda/Claudette Colbert feature directed by John Ford in honor of Independence Day. Read moreCame here last night to watch the murder/mystery play, Death By Design. The show was funny, shocking and well produced. The auditorium was staged accordingly. The play takes place in Cookem, England in the 1920's. The actors dressed very stylishly. Their British/Irish accents and acting ability were done beautifully. Go treat yourself to a wonderful evening in a wonderful place in Downtown San Leandro. The tickets weren't expensive. It was under $20 per person. Go soon before...
