I have eaten at or ordered take out at Joe's Pho on Washington Ave. a half dozen times or more. The food and portion size is excellent. That's why I'm so sad that I won't be returning. I ordered my food for the first time on their website. I don't really like using uber/doordash, so I went with the owner preference. I ordered a bit over $90, with tax and tip, it was about $120. When I got to the restaurant, the hostess told me I could pick up at the register. As I approached the register, the older woman began screaming that she won't take my online order "because you no pay." I closed the distance between us and said, "What are you talking about? I paid through your website." The woman said, "No! We not take online!" I showed her my phone with the order. Showed her the address on the website and the map. As she insisted I had not ordered from the restaurant, or not that location. When I finally figured out how to show her my receipt, she called her manager. I guess the manager told her that my order was legit and how to pull it up. Not only did my receipt pop out, but so did another customer's. I ended up waiting an additional 30 minutes for my food. I never got an apology. She did not even offer me water while I waited. To be fair, she did give me 2 sodas and some shrimp chips with my food. But the price of being yelled at when I did nothing wrong, is never going back, telling my friends and family not to go, and this review. I sure will miss all...
Read moreCame here for the first time for a late lunch on a Monday. Not busy at all, so able to get a table immediately. Ordered the regular size Special Combination Oxtail Pho @ $18.95, shrimp crepe appetizer (forgot the name, note picture in the menu, but not listed with a price as an item, $15), and a peach fruit tea drink @ $6.50. I found the food to be really pricey, but everything was above average. I will stop in again and try some of their other items.
The restaurant is large with a nice modern casual feel and can accommodate large gatherings, which is nice...very family friendly. There is a sports bar area with a large TV. Service was on point, and the food came out immediately. If you want your appetizers to come out first, you need to let them know. In my case, my soup came out so fast, and I waited a little bit longer for my appetizer. No big deal, but note, just in case you prefer your appetizers first. It's located in a small strip mall with lots of other eateries, which can be difficult to park, especially in the evenings on the weekends. Do not leave anything valuable...
Read more“Pho Joe in San Leandro: A Decline in Quality”
Review: I recently visited Pho Joe near 85 Degree Bakery in San Leandro, and unfortunately, the overall quality of the food has significantly declined since its inception. One positive aspect is the ample parking available for customers. However, the primary letdown lies in the deteriorating quality of both the Pho and Bun Bo Hue broth and meat.
The broth, once rich and flavorful, has become disappointingly plain. This, coupled with a noticeable decrease in meat quality, makes for a less enjoyable dining experience. While other items on the menu were passable, the general consensus is that the food is overpriced when compared to similar establishments.
Despite the decline in food quality, the customer service remains commendable. It’s evident that the restaurant has taken a step back from its original location, Pho Joe Original, which offered a superior dining experience. Unfortunately, unless there’s a compelling reason, my family and I won’t be returning to Pho Joe in...
