⭐ 1/5 - Misleading Membership Information and Poor Communication
I am extremely disappointed with my experience at Crunch Fitness due to their inconsistent policies and misleading sales practices. During both my initial sales call and a subsequent personal training session, I was explicitly assured that my 10-year-old son could use the gym equipment as long as he remained under my supervision. This was a key factor in my decision to purchase a membership.
The reality proved to be completely different. When I brought my son to work out with me for the first time - something he was genuinely excited about - we were turned away and told he was too young to be on the gym floor. Instead, we were directed to "Kids Crunch," a childcare area primarily designed for toddlers and young children. As my son pointed out, he would be one of the oldest children there, making it an inappropriate space for a 10-year-old who was interested in actual fitness training.
What makes this situation particularly frustrating is that I have witnessed multiple instances of children who appeared younger than my son using the equipment with their adult supervisors. This inconsistent enforcement of policies only adds to the frustration of being misled during the sales process.
Major Issues: False information provided during sales calls Contradictory information from personal trainer Inconsistent enforcement of age policies Inappropriate alternative solutions (Kids Crunch being unsuitable for older children) Lack of clear communication about actual policies
I cannot recommend Crunch Fitness to families looking to exercise together. The company needs to: Provide accurate information during sales calls Train their staff to consistently communicate and enforce policies Create appropriate programs for older children who are interested in fitness Be transparent about age restrictions before selling memberships
If you're a parent looking to exercise with your children, I strongly suggest finding a more family-friendly gym that is honest about their policies and actually delivers on...
Read moreI have been a member since Crunch San Marcos opened last year. I’ve enjoyed the classes, the staff, and the overall vibe. Recently I made the leap into trying personal training, and I could not be more grateful! I see Coach Laney once a week, and it has changed EVERYTHING for me!
Early last year I suffered a significant knee injury that had me unable to bear any weight on my right leg for a couple weeks, and needed a knee brace for months afterwards. My knee was slowly healing, but I was unsteady, unstable, and constantly worried about hurting myself again. I knew that I needed help in strengthening up not just my knee, but all of my weak areas, as well as correcting the imbalances that came as a result of overcompensating for a past injury. As an obese 51-year-old woman, I had my reservations about what I could actually do, and if there was someone who would understand my specific needs.
Gratefully, Coach Laney was exactly the right fit for me! Not only does Laney have a sweet nature, she is funny, energetic, encouraging, and has a way of honing right in on what needs to be addressed. Coach Laney’s vast experience as a trainer, combined with her deep knowledge of body mechanics and ability to make the complex simple, has given me back my mobility, my confidence, and my life. I have a long way to go in my health journey, but I have no doubt that I am in the best to help me reach my goals!
Yes, personal training is expensive, and I spent a good amount of time saving up to try it in the first place. However, what I’ve saved as a result of training with Coach Laney cannot be ignored: I regained full range of motion in my right knee, something I could not make happen on my own. And despite slipping on some stairs last week, my knee was solid, no re-injury!! Being able to move freely again has impacted every area of my life, and it’s because of my time with...
Read moreThe gym has some good equipment and I like that it has a sauna and other features that are good. However, the gym is ALWAYS packed! I feel as though I spend more time standing around waiting to use equipment than I do actually working out. And even using mats, I still feel it is too crowded and there is no room to comfortably do routines. The other issue is that I canceled my membership within the first 60 days due to a convenience issue as the gym is too far to drive to for me and not only did they still make me pay the monthly fee, but they are also still charging me the annual fee as well for a total of $87. I feel that is a huge inconvenience, especially when I’m trying to limit the inconveniences I already have going to this gym. They also seem to have some communication issues that I have witnessed amongst the staff on behalf of my friend who also cancelled her membership. She signed up for one of their programs for a chance to win prizes and paid the fee of $99. They never emailed her the times or dates to show up for weigh ins, gave her the wrong times to do the weigh ins, and when she showed up to do it, they told her that she passed the deadline to weigh in and initially did not want to refund her for their mistakes. And after agreeing to process her refund, it was still a hassle for her to get the refund because they kept saying it processed however it was not actually refunded and took almost two weeks and several times checking in with different managers and staff members before finally receiving it. It was nice to try out but I don’t think I would ever sign back up...
