Civic Center Parking Structure — Local services in Santa Monica

LONG LONG TIME RESIDENT OF THE PEOPLES REPUBLIC OF SANTA MONICA! Parked at the civic center for JURY DUTY and within 10 minutes they managed to ticket the car that I never drive (except to park in public lots in #LA!) - for no front license plate.

AND: when I returned from lunch (again on jury duty) - the 2HR meter had 1hr 30min on it already. When I fed my card to the SM PARKING METER - it Reset and charged me the FULL RATE (which is more than $2.50 an hour nowadays.

I can see how REPUBLIC OF SANTA MONICA is rumored to be way way way past its prime. Vacation and shop elsewhere - or face the judgement of Santa Monica’s money making machine, whose only real goal is to bleed you dry of your time, money, and patience - no questions asked....

Secure parking close to the beach and SM. I’d park here for the whole day and 100% if after dark. Saw police driving round checking.

However depending on when (time of year) you are going, the beach front lots could be cheaper than this, as they were saying 5-7$ per entry. Vs this that can be up to $14.

Also they need more pay machines, took me 5 min to find one as they are all in the 1st floor but if you get the elevator up from the street you bypass them. Could do with one or...

With the removal of the Civic Center parking lot the structure is the only place to park for County Courthouse, Santa Monica City Hall, and the public safety building which has the police department and Fire Department. Just remember you only have 30 minutes of free parking before they start charging but there. Parking may be limited due to employees from the city county and high school...
