Disclaimer: I do not work for any bike rental companies; I work an office job in Culver City.
My boyfriend took me bike-riding at the beach for my birthday, and we had such a nice time we decided to go do it again a few months later. We rented bikes from the back of a truck parked near Ocean Front Walk last time, and we thought this was the same truck. It was the same color, the same font on the side, same copy, etc. We realized later this wasn't the same company we used last time, but we didn't think it was a big deal -- we're casual bike-riders and a bike is a bike, right?
We were a little bit wrong:
these bikes are not for short people. I'm around 160 cm and the seat kept chafing me. After nearly 2 hours of bike-riding, I have a big ol' bruise on my inner thigh, which I didn't have last time after the same period of bike-riding. I think the seat was just too high for me, even though it was already adjusted to the lowest setting.
these bikes are serviceable but not great. The brakes were definitely worse on this bike, and I didn't feel as comfortable going fast.
The left bike grip kept coming off my boyfriend's bike as he was riding.
these bikes didn't have a basket or a bell; the last ones did.
if you're concerned about COVID or general cootie-ness, I might go elsewhere. The two employees here were great and I don't have any complaints about them, except that neither of them were wearing masks. But what we liked about the employee service at the other spot was that 1) she was wearing a mask at all times, and 2) we saw her wipe down all the handles and the seats before giving us the bikes. She did this again when we came back to return the bikes. She also offered us hand sanitizer when we came back. She was just one person there and there were two employees working at this spot, so it doesn't seem like it should be a customer flow issue?
the last place was cheaper -- $20 all day. This place charged $20 for 2 hours and $25 all day.
This place isn't bad; it just seems like there are better options out there, at least for short people like me? I wouldn't rent here again unless I really...
Read moreWe rented 3 bikes ,my 20 yrs old & my 24 yrs old special need boy who does know how to drive bike but doesn't know how to break by pressing back the foot pedal ,since hand breaking bike wasn't available , I liked it how they helped us to accommodate by converting the electrical bike into a regular one đ just for him to be able to use those hand breaks đ & we tipped him for that. We rented for 2 hours, before ending the last 30 minutes my younger son's bike wheels slept on a heavily sandy curve ,he got anxious about the bloody wounds ib his knee and elbow which were burning ,when we arrived at the center they didn't offer a first aid đł we asked the guy to give us an alcohol swipe to clean at least ,he luckily had few mini wipes, but they should be more equipped with much more professional 1st aid kit that includes proper treatment like hydrogen peroxide and a big patches of plasters or gauze wraps to cover up such kinds of injuries cuz it's likely to happen with so many . They can also offer knee and elbow protectors from the start point ,cuz they are essential like the helmets which are always offered . Most likely we will go again,we liked the location, the guys were friendly ,parking was easy but I hope they consider đ đ đ our request. Because of this minor injury without proper treatment ,we had to go back home wirhout enjoying the sunset dinner we planned...
Read moreMy wife and I recently visited Santa Monica from Chicagoland. We were looking to see SM and Venice beach close up and a bike trip is a great way to do it. Max and Issac at RIBB have new and durable e-bikes and traditional bikes. They get customer service better than most companies, so everything went real smooth. Just a reservation and pickup at their truck on the north end of the beach parking lot at Bay Street in SM and off we went.
We rented their most durable e-bikes and they were great. Big tires and comfortable seats. Iâm pretty good size and mine had plenty of zip when I needed it. Isaac spent the time to familiarize us with the bike and answered our questions. As with anything that you ride, a helmet is a must so we rented helmets a lock in case we stopped and had lunch along the way. We went south along the bike path to Venice Beach. We checked out the beach front and the shops, restaurants, and swank beach pads along the way. Great way to...
