Incredibly disappointed in poor customer service/follow up & waiting still almost 4 months later for my couch. Story time: I ordered a custom sectional couch from the owner back in August. We discussed all my options. I paid extra for deeper seats and got a chaise on one side. We went with the corduroy look thatās trending right now. He had a large selection of corduroy fabrics and colors for me to choose from. We went with the biggest (2ā) corduroy in dark gray for the new couch. I was so excited! We were told he has the hookups at his factory here in California and can get anything done. 3-5 weeks was the time frame on the receipt and he stated he would deliver it to us himself. I really trusted everything this business owner told me. Well, 5 weeks past. NO COUCH. NO WORD OR FOLLOW UP. No call, voicemail or text message. NOTHING. I called and left him a voicemail. He returned my call & stated that my fabric was very popular at the moment & it was back ordered. He also stated that my couch is very large and they needed more fabric for it. He said that the fabric was set to be delivered to his factory on the exact date of October 27th and that the couch would be ready the 1st week of November. He did mention that the 1ā corduroy fabric in dark gray was ready & available & that if I wanted to switch to that look instead, it would be ready right away. I declined. I really wanted the couch I saved up for and have really had my eye on for years. He said okay and we went on our way. I again waited. Since I heard nothing from him after the October date, I (naively) assumed that the couch was being made. Next thing I realize, thanksgiving had come and gone & I have no couch. Again, no follow up from the owner. Nothing. I reach out, this time via text. He says the fabric ānever arrived.ā So wait, no follow up to let me know this?? This is an almost $4k couch. He said this āhas never happened to him before & heās been calling the factory every 3 days to follow up with them.ā He provided me NO reason as to why the fabric isnāt there. Yet he is still advertising these corduroy couches all over his social medias & giving clients a lead time frame of when they will be ready if they should order one. He has even received new 2ā corduroy fabric couches in his showroom. Diff colors & models, but still. This is highly disappointing and frankly not okay. He offered me again the other size corduroy fabric, or to be refunded or to keep waiting. Gave me no ETA & no explanation. I told him I was disappointed and didnāt know what to do and I needed to speak to my husband. He never even responded back and that was 3 days ago!! Iām incredibly bummed out at this whole interaction. He talked a big game and promised he could deliver a custom couch with the fabrics shown. Either way, his failure to follow up with me, not once but twice, is incredibly unprofessional, especially as the owner. If he would just check in with me, I wouldāve felt a bit more relieved. But almost 4 months for a custom couch & not one follow up to me regarding its timeline??? I am definitely an unhappy customer & he doesnāt seem to mind. I would love to receive my couch or a further explanation as to what is going on. As a customer, this is just simply not okay and extremely poor customer service. We were able to find that Sonoma Home Furniture indeed had custom sectionals by John Michael which was delivered today. It is so comfy and fits perfectly in our family room. My husband had back surgery a couple of years ago and has not been able to sit in the family room due to the sectional being uncomfortable to his back.
