Save your money. Just came here with our service dog and as such were forced in to a front patio.
As we exclaimed our dog is ADA certified as an emotional support animal. The initial shock therefore came when we told the manager about this to which they abruptly and quite frankly rudely replied "no he isnt" and repeated some rehearsed line about 9 months being a legal length of time required for him to reach such a status and that we were essentially banished to a secluded front patio away from everyome else.
Now im not an expert on emotional support animals but even if i were i would never and i repeat never assume and in turn disrespect a potential customer by questioning the status or validity of a service animal. To me it just seems like a stupid and albeit ignorant step on behalf of the manager.
When we sat down to finally order a drink we were asked to show ID - fine, no problems there. However after producing my British drivers license i was told by the server they couldnt accept it.
Now after a quick google, as far as i can tell there is no national or locally mandated standard for the ID that can be presented to show drinking age (happy to be proven wrong on this btw... as i say im not an expert). However as i understand it, there is mercantile discretion for what can be used. Therefore they are in theory not breaking laws by denying my ID. However i am a 30 year old bald man who could probably pass for 40. My ID is clear and legible and would pass any authenticity tests i.e. blacklight etc to show holograms or security measures - to which they werent interested in.
I guess the way it becomes even more of an issue is that through this entire process it has been clear that they are not interested in finding solutions with the customer, only problems. This hits home even more when i comsider the fact that I have never in 7 months of living here been denied a drink based on my id and that holds true for all the places ive visited, including everything from Austin to Atlanta.
The mood of the staff is just plain wrong, accusatory in nature and holds as much greeting and pleasantries of that of a convicted person standing trial than a customer at a restaurant. This was only furthered at the end when we plucked up the courage to politely complain about the discrimination of the dog which was ultimately met with an eye roll from the front desk and a clear acknowledgement of the manager that we had already spoken to who said while walking off in the distance "ill be right back".....its safe to say we werent when he...
Read moreVery disappointed with La Rosa tonight. Firstly, my wife and I both ordered taco salads and there wasnât much flavor. When I order a taco salad, I expect the standard shredded lettuce, pico de gallo or some form of salsa, beans, rice, and maybe some sour cream. I ordered mine with carne asada and the meat slices were to long and chewy to go with the salad. Furthermore, the lettuce wasnât shredded and was cut up basically how you would see it in a typical Caesar salad (pet peeve but I can let that one slide). There were hardly any beans in the taco salad and they didnât have much flavor. No lettuce, hardly any pico de gallo, and no rice. What really was upsetting was our service. After receiving our chips and salsa, our server asked if we wanted some guacamole. I said yes thinking that it would come in a complementary bowl like the salsa. It came in a large portion on a plate. When we received our bill, we were charged $13. Our server had not mentioned this was an appetizer we would be charged for. In fact, she didnât ask us if we wanted to start with any appetizers at all. When we brought this up to our server and explained we thought it would come in a small bowl like the salsa, she rudely asked if we wanted it taken off the bill. She then followed with ânext time just know guacamole isnât free. Avocados arenât cheap.â The other servers seemed more professional so I know we just received a bad one, but overall this experience was terrible and there are many better Mexican restaurants...
Read moreMy wife and I had the worst experience of our lives today. We spend a lot of money at your restaurant. We came in to eat and again we're very rudely treated by your manager. She told us we owed for drinks from another visit. She said we never paid our bill. She accused us of walking out without paying for one round of drinks. She said she saw us as we left leaving without paying. All this is a lie. I have never left a restaurant without paying. I am a retired fire professional and I served my country in the marine corps in Vietnam. She was very rude and we were insulted to the point that we had to leave. She told us to leave and to never come back. Is this how your employees treat your good customers? We were and we are still are very upset. We were made to feel like second class citizens. We will never come back to La Rosa Taqueria in Santa Rosa, unless we are given a written apology for her unprofessional conduct. She is her mid thirties and she is very unprofessional. Her first name is Emily. She would not give us her last name. We called back after we left and she said she gave us the opportunity to pay for our drinks from the previous visit. She said she saw us looking around at the front door to see if anyone was looking and according to her we left. This is all a lie as on that particular day we were on the patio and we left after paying our bill that was brought to us. Let us know what else you need from us. Thank you for...
