The overall experience was wonderful. I purchased two tickets for the 4th of July day sail around the bay. The weather was perfect- started out a bit foggy and as we neared the city the sun came shining through. She is a beautiful ship and we look forward to taking another sail with her and the crew in the near future. The crew were able and hard working, Adrian (the captain) was informative and adept. My boyfriend, who has done a lot of sailing got to take the helm for a few minutes and he was absolutely thrilled. We heard there are plans in the not too distant future to take longer sojourns out into the ocean. The idea of a trip to Hawaii was floated- we would love to be a part of that voyage. Thank you Call of the Sea and Matthew Turner for a great...

An unforgettable experience for our kids! Our child joined the Call of the Sea Youth Sailing Voyage this summer, and it was absolutely amazing. The program was not only fun and exciting, but also deeply educational. They learned about sailing, marine life, teamwork, and even did things like navigating a tall ship and washing dishes as a team — and loved every minute of it!

The crew and staff were incredibly kind, professional, and inspiring. The trip to Drakes Bay and Half Moon Bay, seeing whales, sailing under the Golden Gate Bridge — it was all magical. This was truly a once-in-a-lifetime experience, and we’re so grateful for it. Highly recommended for any young person interested in adventure, nature, and real hands-on learning.

We will...

We saw the Mathew Turner when she was just ribs in the building. Then we came back and the keel planks were stacked around the room, slices of trees with the bark still on. Wood steamers and bending jigs everywhere. Then we were able to tour the ship just before she was launched. Now we have been sailing on her. We enjoy sailing on tall ships, so it was great to be on the bay again and this time it was the Mathew Turner. Nice friendly crew, we can help hoist the sails, or just enjoy. Love how they have the educational programs for kids! A great experience for young and old, even...

Wow! This was way beyond our expectations. This sailboat is a beauty and is maintained in a pristine condition. And the crew was phenomenal, gentle, engaged, and hard working. Yes, it’s a lot of hard work to maneuver the sail and negotiate cross winds. We were lucky as the weather was on the mild side, with sun out, water cobalt blue and serene. As the sun was setting in, the boats, birds, and moon for an amazing experience. Highly highly recommended.
