Pros: probably among the better breakfast options in Sausalito, convenient location, easy parking Cons: you have to pay for parking, service, expensive, so-so food
There are three reasons to write a Yelp review. 1) you have tons of free time apparently to do reviews, 2) You have a great experience; 3) you have a bad experience. For this review, we're going for #3. First, I'll say that I recognize that Covid has made things challenging but this is a place that could use a little constructive feedback.
First, it's nice to hear someone say Good morning when they greet you. When the first thing they say is "do you have a reservation..." it's a bit off-putting. Second, bc we had a party of 3, they decided to jury-rig a table on a downslope angle in the middle of the walkway of the restaurant. Not the best start.
After sitting down, I realize that I'm going to have to ask a waiter for pretty much everything, whether its' water, coffee, service, etc. No one told us that we had to get the menu from a QR code since no one greeted us after sitting. So we sat there and wasted 10 minutes. I've never seen so many staff walking around but never approaching our table. We literally did not have a single server or host ask us how our food was. Not a single time. That's impressive.
My parents and I had the omelette, French toast, and eggs Benedict. The Toast initially came out burnt and had to be replaced, which was done quickly. The food was good, not $20 a plate good, but decent. Did I feel compelled to take a pic to remember it? Nah.
It's clear that this restaurant is very busy and given the paucity of good breakfast options in Sausalito, it's not surprising. So I guess it's not surprising that since the people keep coming... you don't really have to emphasize the service part. But overall I would suggest a bit more friendliness, better table organization, and more emphasis on service. For my part, I don't have to try Le...
Read moreLe Garage is located near the water and eating on their outdoor patio is absolutely wonderful on a sunny day. It tends to get busy just before noon, so I recommend going early if you want to go for brunch.
There is valet parking available which I highly recommend as parking is quite limited in this area (on weekends). Note about the valet—his prompt and professional interaction with customers was exemplary and memorable!
It’s a nice idea to be able to buy and order drinks from the greeter, however; I believe she was new because she seemed to have a difficult time greeting, managing the list, and handling drink orders which required communication with the bar if the drinks had alcohol. We ended up bypassing her and going straight to the bar after we got our name on the waiting list.
The waiter who seated us put us at a table in the sun— my husband has a photosensitivity allergy so we requested to be seated at another open table that was in the shade. The waiter said, “oh that table is for groups of four.” Since it was just the two of us I thought, “OK makes sense.” Not even five minutes after we were seated, the same waiter seated a couple (2 people) at the table that we wanted to sit at. Clearly he did not state the actual reason why he didn’t want to seat us at that table. I am decrementing one star for the disparate treatment between us and the subsequent couple— this behavior is not acceptable, especially for an establishment that seems to value and espouse class. The waiter was clearly acting on some sort of bias and didn’t care to tell us the truth or explain his behavior.
The food is where the merit lies (and let’s not forget that valet!). I ordered the French toast which was simply divine. My husband had an omelette which he enjoyed as well. Unfortunately our meal was rushed due to the direct sun exposure—but the food is very good and well...
