Originally e-mailed this company about a promotion I saw on their Facebook page. Received an e-mail reply from Timothy stating he doesn't offer that promo anymore, but will offer me an "industry price" for the 3 hour private yacht tour for up to 6 passengers. I thought great, so I started asking questions about his yacht and informed him this is for a special occasion. His replies were usually within 1-2 days, but were short and didn't answer all of my questions. I had to repeat some questions again in replies to try to get an answer to those questions. It felt like he didn't care that I'm trying to plan an event on his yacht for a special occasion. One time I didn't receive a reply after several days, so I sent another e-mail inquiring about the availability for the tour on specific dates again.
Later when I was able to narrow down a date/time I think would work for the private yacht tour, I send him an e-mail request, and he sends me an e-mail requesting for the full amount instead of the "industry price" as he stated in the initial e-mail. I inquire about this price discrepancy and he says, "I'm sorry, but we are now into peak season and I can not offer you any discounts." Felt like a bait and switch tactic. I kept in touch with him about the private yacht tour and asked about different dates that could work for this special occasion. I was disappointed and upset to say the least that nothing about "peak season" or no longer honoring the discount or when the "industry price" would expire was mentioned in any of his email replies to me until I asked about the pricing after he sent me the booking e-mail for payment. After I expressed my disappointment, Timothy didn't reply.
I guess he's making too much money to care about losing a potential customer. If you're considering this company I'd reconsider and look at different options. Would you want to work with a someone that doesn't honor what he offers a potential customer? Even if you can't honor something you offer to a customer at least let the customer know ASAP and not drag it out until the customer has to ask why after he reviews the booking...
Read moreThe superlative Bay Area cruise experience. Captains Tim and Shannon are the most gracious and accommodating hosts. The boat is equipped with nearly literally anything you could want or imagine to need for a fun and memorable day out on the bay, from ice to soft drinks to a fully equipped kitchen (and Nespresso machine), bluetooth system, comfortable seating for 6, snacks, treats, fresh fruit, and a calm, kind, and easygoing vibe. Could not possibly imagine kinder or more gracious hosts. We went out with a group of 6 including our 18 month old, and felt so well taken care of. Worth every penny and then some.
My only regret writing this review is that too many people will find out what a steal and a deal it is to spend the day with them on their...
Read moreWe had an amazing time for my husband's birthday. Everyhting was perfecta and Shanutski is the perfect yatch for exploring the Bay. Captain Timothy was gracious, helpful and discreet. It is clear that he loves what he does and has an affinity for great customer service.
We brought our 13 year old Weimeraner Sophia for our four hour cruise and she was welcomed and loved immediately. She did extemely well and no issues at all.
I have been on many boats on the Bay and I use to race Columbia 30 in my youth, but this was the most memorable trip for sure!!
I would give the SS Shanutski and Captain Timothy 5 stars x 45765747.
