This was my first visit to an Acapello salon. Julia did a wonderful job trimming my long, thick hair in early July. I hadn't had a trim in 16 months, so my hair had grown from just past my shoulders to about chest-length, was unruly, and had a lot of split ends. Because it is course textured, with natural wave and many cowlicks, it is not easy to cut. I was confident the outcome would be positive, because Julia was self-assured and calm, listened carefully to the exact amount I wanted trimmed, and never suggested any other service unless I inquired. She was happy to answer questions about possible color in the future, to cover my gray and enhance my fading natural copper color (I have yet to color my hair). She made the haircut process easy, and because I am sensitive to many scents, was nice enough to open a window while I was there, and to turn down the music for a calmer atmosphere. Her blunt cutting was expert and quick. I felt much better about my appearance when I saw the result, and plan to see her again every few months. She rightly suggested keeping up with the trims, which will help prevent splitting in the hair, and also suggested salon products, which I will follow up about soon. I want to add that Julia is a very helpful and pleasant person. I enjoyed talking with her so much when I first inquired about salon services, and decided right then to make an appointment with her. The salon, while located on a busy industrial strip in Scarborough, has a peaceful indoor atmosphere, and a much smaller, intimate impression than many salons, which I appreciate. I also like the fact that unlike many salons, there are not large picture windows where everyone outside can see the stylists at work with their clients. I prefer the privacy. I was even offered a beverage while I waited to begin my appointment. Clients can choose from stylists who have different levels of expertise, starting with Level 1 and going up. Prices do vary according to expertise. I would say the pricing, at this independently owned salon, is somewhat higher than some chain salons, but not excessively so. Great results are worth the cost. Julia is a Level 1 stylist, and I grade...
Read moreVery disappointed with the haircut my teenage daughter received yesterday at the Scarborough location. I booked online so it picked a stylist for us it said her name was Cait but I am unsure if that is who actually did her hair as the hairstylist barely spoke to my daughter or myself. My daughter has very easy hair to cut she keeps it long and all one length. The stylist started by cutting her hair dry and then washing her hair and the cut it again, I should have known then that something was off. She then blew out my daughters hair and cut it some more at this point she had the stylist next to her check her work and she also did some cutting. I would assume that the stylist was training though it did not say that anywhere in the booking process. After all of this we paid and left when we arrived at our next destination I was walking behind my daughter and realized how uneven her cut was so I had her stop and look at me not only was the back uneven the stylist had cut one side in the front shorter than the other side. I do not know what the stylist was going for as my daughter very clearly keeps her hair one length, the cut was so uneven I had to fix it as best as I could when we got home because she was so upset. My daughter is so upset that her hair is ruined and the only way to fix it is to bring her to another salon to get it cut again much shorter as the one side in the front was cut so much shorter than the rest of it. The fact that two stylist worked on her hair and still sent her out with that uneven of a cut is beyond me. This is not the first time we have been to an Acapello salon but it was...
Read moreI’ve been going here for over a year now. Julia is phenomenal and it’s so fun to sit in her chair. She has always made my hair dreams come true.
More recently I had to cancel my last two appointments and I felt bad so I booked elsewhere. BIG mistake. The salon I chose (Salon Mimosa) took my hair from my bright blonde that Julia had done for me, and I asked them to bring me back to my dirty blonde so that my next appointment with Julia she could go in and add some dimension. The stylist dyed my hair to a chocolate brown with a red tint. I was balling my eyes out for the rest of that night and the very next day. The next day I called Acapello and explained what had happened, crying and desperate I asked if I could go in that day and get it fixed. They called Julia and within 5 minutes I got a call back that I could come in at 6:45pm and Julia would fix it. I went in that night and she was so calm, patient and really took the time to brainstorm how we were going to fix what the other salon had done. Although it was late in the evening she took her time to make sure I walked out happy. Julia knows her stuff when it comes to hair, she gave me a whole science lesson explaining how the hair colors work etc. There was another individual there named Jen, and Jen and Julia would work together to get ideas of how to correct my hair.
I walked out so thankful that she took me in last minute, spent the time treating and correcting my hair. I’ll never go to another Salon or stylist again. I highly...
