Happy Garden — Restaurant in Scarborough

I started an order at 11:15 because I was excited for the house Mei fun, I’ve had it before, delicious. The website yelled at me for ordering without picking a time, and then let me pick a time, and I picked 1:00. Specified to text me when they arrive so I can come out and get it. Super!

The driver CALLED me at 12:15 saying he was there and to let him in; that’s 5 minutes before the first available scheduled delivery, and a full 45 minutes before I had scheduled. I did not get that phone call, I had asked them to text me. They tried again at 12:45 (again, not the 1pm I asked for.) and the driver left again after sitting at the wrong door for 10 mins. Now I suppose they’re remaking the food, I’ve been away from my desk for 25 mins, for what should have been a 2-min grab my food and get back to work situation. 30 bucks for a single entree&wontons, plus delivery fee, processing fee and tip. We have been by this restaurant many times and today we finally got a chance to stop by. It's been months since we had Chinese food and was very much looking forward to it. We ordered a small Chop Suey, an L34 and an L35 from the dinner menu. Service was good and we did not have to wait long for our take-out order. The food was served fresh and hot and I mean hot, not warm! The prices were comparable to other places and the portions were generous. The food were flavourful. However, I thought the beef teriyaki was a little dry and the boneless ribs was a little hard, but not bad. The pork "Chop Suey", crab rangoon, pork fried rice land chicken fingers were all good. Happy Garden used to be one of my favorite restaurants but it no longer will be. I refuse to order from them again. The new owner is rude, disrespectful, condescending, and very unprofessional. He lacks customer service skills. The front doesn't know how to take proper food orders. The owner argued with me for over 20 minutes over a large duck sauce that I had originally ordered but was never charged for because the person who took my order didn't listen He continuously laughed at me throughout this conversation and threatened to not deliver here again over a LARGE DUCK SAUCE. He then said he would give it to me but WE had to go pick it up or they would charge us another delivery fee to bring it back to the house. Long story short I will never be ordering from them again.
