Genuinely one of the worst experiences I had with a personal trainer in all my years. I've had ex military turned trainers that took more time to educate me using kindness and understanding on how to build a plan. It was a free session though, so at least there's that
Edit+explanation; so now that I finished crying over that experience, I can explain exactly what happened. I had signed up about a week ago and they offered a free session with a trainer just to start so I could know where I'm starting at and they could give me a general outline for a routine to build. I showed up about 2 minutes late unfortunately, but it didn't really matter because she was about 20 minutes late. I asked at the front desk because they said I would just have to go and ask and they would be ready for me when I had initially signed up, however, when I went in to ask this time around they went to the office and then just told me to sit down. I was waiting and waiting and waiting before I went up and asked if she was actually coming out and they said that she was busy doing her personal workout and that once she was done she would come and meet me. I waited and waited and waited and then finally about 20 minutes from when we were supposed to start she showed up. We did the basics of the machine just so they could get my BMI and all that stuff and then she had me do three different exercises to show her where I was at. I've always struggled with feeling any type of sensations/pain whenever I exercise. So I need somebody to show me exactly how I'm supposed to do something so I can do it correctly, and when I had tried asking for that she just told me I was doing the exercises wrong and I needed to learn how to do it correctly despite one of the things we mentioned was that I had no foundation. As the conversation continued, I started to realize that she was trying to upsell me on the protein powder that they sell at the front desk, and then because again I had no foundation she started trying to sell me on a personal trainer. I declined because right now I do not have the money or the time to be dedicating myself to having a personal trainer, and I did have some people in my life who were taking the time to help me build a routine because I prefer to work by myself. She got upset and started insisting that I have a personal trainer because there was no way I was going to hit any of my goals if I didn't have one and that I was definitely going to hurt myself and I was definitely not going to get anywhere. I tried getting out of the conversation by mentioning that one of the people in my life is getting his certifications to become a personal trainer and because of that he's been giving my husband sessions and that I was building off of that. She still seemed frustrated but she got up, told me she would email me my results, and then left. I didn't know if the session was over or not, but at this point I was already incredibly frustrated with the being late, the inability to truly instruct me on how to do anything, and the over insistence on pushing me to spend more money on things that I don't necessarily think I need right now, I simply got up and I went to my car and cried. Yes, I'm a beginner but it is incredibly hard to feel welcomed in an environment where you are meant to be bettering yourself when there's just somebody trying to get you to spend money like some sort of snake oil man. I will be taking my results to my friend who does have his education and experiences so that he can build me a plan instead. The session was free, and I guess for the time being I will continue being at this gym until something better arrives and I can leave. I will have to take the same approach that my friend does at this gym and just avoid the trainers and staff seeing as they are more interested in making more profit than...
Read moreI am extremely upset with this location. I haven’t been to the gym in over three weeks, almost 4 weeks now due to discrimination and acts of harassment due to staff changes for holding a vape in my shoe. I’ve been going to this location now almost a year and when I first started going, it was great, but I noticed that slowly, but surely they fired all of the African-American employees And hired nothing but Caucasians and every single person hired was very rude and I felt like it was a high school objective behind the harassment, almost as in bullying. The day of the incident I walked into the gym, signed in as usual and went straight to the Matt area to go stretch. I was back there for maybe 15 to 20 minutes and my vape was in my sports bra, but I moved it to my shoe and the minute that I moved it and employee walked up to me and started harassing me about their no vape policy, and I asked was I or was I not allowed to even bring my vape through the door And the employee named Emilie told me over and over that I’m not allowed to have it at all as I sat there, I noticed that the minute that I looked up as I continue to stretch The employees at the front were giggling and watching me so I went to the front and tried to complain to the boss or manager, and the minute that I asked for one, they proceeded to tell me that there was not one present when I arrived into the building the manager had A black shirt on and she tried to change her shirt as if she was no longer on duty and walking around as a customer so arguing back-and-forth eventually got old so I tried to cancel my membership, they proceeded to try to charge me my yearly fee and my monthly fee upfront just to cancel my membership and continue to stay to try to charge my card over and over and over to get money for membership even though there was a zero dollar balance, and I was paid up-to-date The employees proceeded to laugh and giggle, and basically just make me feel helpless and at one point I really loved going to this gym so it was really shocking to see how they treated me as soon as the only thing that I was worth was my money. They really had the best people, but once they started getting rid of all the people that made the gym the way it was, and the atmosphere and environment that it was it just was never the same. A lot of the people that used to go normally changed their memberships to golds gym and that new fitness connection place. And after changing my gym membership to the new gym, I’m at it’s called fitness connection. It is the greatest gym ever the people there are nothing but positive and I cannot believe that I had this experience with Crunch. I hope that the boss and the management really change up their perspective and the way that they talk to people because this was a learning lesson for me this goes out to you, Becca and Emilie and HOLLIE!!!!!!!! Hollie you were by far the worst one !!!……..
Update:3/18/25 I have still not received the response From Crunch, I sent them an email about seven days ago and have not heard back from anyone. I will now be filing criminal discrimination charges and criminal harassment charges. I feel like standards were not appealed and even after I asked for help and reached out to their website and their emails and no one responds to me because they know that they are in the wrong. They continue to duck and dodge me at the locations and every time I’ve gone in and asked they’ve always said that they don’t have a manager there so apparently the entire facility is corrupt. I honestly think that all of this transpired due to the fact that they have no rules there and don’t follow any policies except the ones that they hold For the people that they hold them for I hope that they do something soon before the lawyers get involved I was really trying to...
Read moreUpdate; thank you to Bekah who has told me I will receive a refund. The gym itself is really good and the classes are very nice.
Just some negative experiences with Kidz Crunch and then difficulties cancelling are what prevent me from giving 5 stars.
When you sign up you have to give a bank account. But when you pay you can use any payment method.
The explanation I’ve been given is that my bank account didn’t have enough funds so late fees were stacking up which explains the high fees.
Could’ve been avoided if they used the payment method I put the $1 down with - my credit card. But instead put fees and fees onto my account because my bank didn’t have enough funds. I was never notified of these late fees, might be helpful to reach out to the gym members and at the minimum send a notification that they have late fees or payment method didn’t go through.
And lastly, I am going to give the benefit of the doubt now that it must’ve just been bad communication between those I spoke with over the phone. They were very kind and told me I didn’t have to come into cancel, but maybe they forgot to actually cancel my account.
Anyways it’s all cancelled now and I’ll take Bekah’s word that the funds will be returned now. I’m glad to now have an explanation of why the charges were so high.
Lessons learned: Be careful of which companies you give your routing and checking numbers to (especially when you already gave them your credit card)
When you talk to staff members on the phone, make sure to get their name. I spent the last few days talking to staff members who didn’t believe me because I wasn’t sure the name of the manager who told me my account was cancelled over the phone.
Just go in person, even if a gym says you’re cancelled.
First few paragraphs of my original (angry) review: Two charges of over $60 after I was told on the phone that my account was cancelled and I would get a free month, which I declined.
Extremely, extremely, extremely disappointed. Spoke with multiple managers and “per their cancellation” Bla Bla Bla, any charges up to 30 days after cancellation are allowed.
This makes ZERO sense because I got my membership two months ago with a two month free sign in bonus (((actually it was $1 down and 1 month free, which I misinterpreted as $1 for the first month, and $0 for the second month))), and started having issues with Kidz Crunch.
… I’ll redact the rest because my issues have been resolved now. Thank you. I really hope that the issues I had with Kidz Crunch don’t happen to anyone else. That’s what the manager told me over the phone, that they were very sorry for my experience and my account had been cancelled over the phone, but it never...
