I was at the bakery today and witnessed a situation that honestly made my stomach turn. There was an older woman who went nuclear over a drink order that was just slightly misheard. Instead of calmly clarifying, she immediately got aggressive, loud, and accusatory. It was completely uncalled for.
Katie, who had simply misheard the order (as literally any human can do), handled the entire situation with so much grace and professionalism. She didn’t get defensive—she calmly stepped up, introduced herself, and tried to make things right with kindness. It was really impressive to watch, especially given how ridiculous and unnecessarily hostile the customer was being.
After all that, Katie still helped me with my own order and was just as sweet and helpful as ever. It reminded me how hard service workers have it—especially in high-end neighborhoods where entitlement runs high.
So here’s to Katie: you made my day better just by being patient, kind, and grounded. You deserve a raise, a cheesecake brownie, and at least one day a week where you don’t have to deal with the unhinged tantrums of miserable...
Read moreI have been coming to this AJ's almost every day for lunch and today the gentleman at the outdoor grill was extremely rude. I asked for a bacon cheeseburger meal, my go to meal, and I was told that unfortunately they were out of bacon. I said "Dang, still? It was out of stock all last week, too." He said "Yeah, it happens." I said "That's crazy for it to happen this often at a grocery store." He then put his pen down and glared at me. I didn't pay much attention to it, and proceeded to order a cheeseburger meal. He stared at me without saying anything. I thought maybe he didn't hear me, so I again said "Just a cheeseburger meal." Still staring at me he said "Are you going to be cordial with me?". Confused, I smiled and said "Nevermind" and he laughed as I walked inside to order from the deli. There was no need for that kind of behavior. The other outdoor chef has been nothing but amazing to me and my coworkers. This worker has made it very uncomfortable for us which is very...
Read moreI recently visited Aj's for breakfast. While it is not commonly known, their breakfast burritos are great. Many stores have become lazy and place generic pre-made burritos under a hot lamp, where they sit for extended time wrapped in foil. This method leads the burritos to taste like foil. As I have always been able to have my burritos made, and it is store practice, I asked this of the line cook. She told me that she was unable to make a burrito. Then she asked the head chef, who also stated he could not make a burrito. This is both incorrect, and lazy on their part, nobody goes to Aj's for the prices. The experience was damaging to say the least. The only reason I am giving 4 stars, is because of Aless As the manager, he was empathetic, caring, and overall a pleasure to speak with. He is the reason I will go out of my way to pay higher prices at Aj's. His dedication to serving his customers makes you feel special. Go try a burrito, $6.99 and...
