Well, this was our first visit. Heard about Arrivederci from friends, some good things, some so-so things. It was Friday evening so my wife called before going and was told if we arrived before 7:00 no problem but after 7 they were pretty booked. Upon arrival the very young girls at the front desk said they had some booths. We said fine, then were told no booths, then no tables, but we could sit and eat at the bar. The bar looked crowded and I asked about social distancing. They told us the restaurant was cleared for 100 percent capacity. Not exactly what Arizonka's governor had devided but we found 2 seats at the end of the bar. There was one bar tender trying to fix drinks at the bar, take dinner orders at the bar, describe specials and take care of the service bar. Tough duty. It took over 30 minutes to get 2 glasses of prosecco. Took another 15 minutes to get a verbal description of the fish special, and another 15 to get the bar tenders attention so we could place our dinner order. Chicken with mustard sauce, broccoli and pasta right off the menu and grilled salmon, sauce on the side for my wife. While waiting we asked for bread. It took a while but when it arrived it was warm and good. Of course the food took days to arrived and we had finished our bread long ago. My wife's salmon came swimming in sauce and she sent it back. I took a bite of my chicken, good but barely warm. It went back as well. The food eventually arrived hot and as ordered, my chicken dish just warmed up, not re-cooked, but it tasted good. As we ate we asked for just one more roll, please from 4 different servers to eat with dinner. That roll got to us 20 minutes later, my chicken and pasta with mustard sauce very cold by then. We finished up, asked for a few take home boxes so I could reheat my food at home. The boxes came fairly quick. We were given a single small cream puff and two shots of a lemon liquor that nearly of us would drink. The cream puff was good but very sweet. Not sure if that is normally served with all dinners or was intended to make up for the shortcomings of our evening, nothing was said. Would I give Arriverderci another try? Maybe after enough time goes by for me to forget just how bad service really was. We spent over 2 1/2 hours there for a quick...
Read moreCame here for dinner for the first time. The dining room was closed due to staff problems I believe and only the bar area was open. Due note, this Arrivederci is not connected to the one in Fountain Hills.
Our waiter was friendly but service was extremely slow. We waited over 20 min to place our order and over 30min to get our food. Weird enough, the table behind us was seated after we ordered but received their food and even FINISHED before we even had our dinner. They had a different waiter.
Another annoying thing… We were each only given 1 piece of bread. We had to ask for more and our waiter once again only gave us 1 each. The waitress gave the table behind us a whole basket and refilled it several times automatically. You shouldn’t have to ask for more repetitively.
The food itself was good, a bit overpriced but definitely tasty. But the extremely slow service and bread situation was very annoying. I understand there is staff problems but there were only 2 other tables of people. 2 waiters should be able to handle that or at least say a simple “sorry for the wait” instead of ignoring the fact that we sat there for 40 min waiting.
All in all, I won’t be coming back to this location. The Fountain Hills establishment is much better.
RESPONSE TO OWNER: Wow, that was a quick response. Maybe they can replicate this momentum in the restaurant setting. We each only had 2 rounds of bread. Rounds as in 2 pieces each. Not 2 baskets each like the table behind us. I know because we DID sit there for so long waiting. I would’ve timed it myself but we were trying to be patient. Additionally, it’s actually not that difficult to find homemade Italian food here. Maggiano’s 10 minutes away is made from scratch food. Or you could just drive to the REAL Arrivederci in Fountain Hills where they give unlimited bread and there isn’t...
