Doctor Josh Raiffe was so rough with my mouth during a crown and inlay install on my back right molars. He manhandled my jaw to the point it was bruised for days. He was not delicate what so ever with his tools that he left my inner cheek raw with sores from how rough he was.
I left his office for a 2 + hour drive back to Tucson when the numbing wore off and I immediately regretting my decision of trusting Shea Dental with my oral procedure. I thought he caused severe nerve damage for over 2 weeks. I even drove back 2 days after the procedure to get my bite adjusted and an evaluation where they just told me for a second time after the procedure that if it didn't heal I'd need a root canal and or an extraction because the procedure essentally failed all while rubbing in the expensive costs of said root canal.
Luckily after 2 weeks my nerve healed but I still could not eat on my right side for an entire month until I went to Mexico and got another Denist to remove excess cement that was left from my crown install that had essentially formed into very sharp shards of glass that were never going to allow my gum in between my 2 new crowns to heal.
I'm greatful that I went here because I met a stranger when I got lunch that inspired me to go to Mexico to Los Algadones(Molar City) for dental work at a third of the price. Now it's been a month and I've been twice and am on track to receive the dental care I need in a fraction of the time I would've been able to at Shea Dental.
I would've had to work with Shea Dental for years at the rates they were quoting me. I should be done by the end of the year with my Dentist in Mexico and I'm still saving money traveling which by the way if you are coming from Tucson its only an additional hour an a half on your trip. It's only 3 and a half hours away from Tucson or Pheonix.
Dentists in Mexico are completely transparent with what everything costs. Whereas in the US there are typically hidden costs at some point and no straight answers. Thanks to my Dentist in Los Algadones I can eat and sleep with no pain that originated from Shea Dental. No nerve pain...
Read moreI had been searching for a biological dentist, (which are a few and far between) and each have different “levels” of education they have completed from what I understand. Dr. Raiffe had many areas listed in this type of Dentistry, including the 3-D cone beam scan that I was interested in doing to make sure I didn’t have any infection from past wisdom teeth removal and root canals. So even though he was an hour drive for me, I decided to go to him when I was having pain in an old crown that I had had done years ago. He was able to get me in quickly and I had a great experience. Everyone in the office was super friendly. His dental assistant, Sam was awesome. Then I got to meet Dr. Raiffe and felt very comfortable. He has a very fun and easy-going personality which made me so much more at ease. He was great at explaining each step as he went along which is really important to me, and he did a great job numbing the area making it so that not only did I not feel the shot, but I was completely numb the whole time. A crown removal does take quite a bit of time under the drill, but I thought it was such a great perk that they were able to make my new crown in office and have it ready and put in super quick! So much better than to have to wait a week or two to come back and have your temporary removed and your permanent one put in! I was pretty numb for a while, but once that started wearing off, I had no pain or achiness in my gum, which I expected to after previous dental work I have had done. Dr. Raiffe called me the next day to follow up and see how I was doing and I was happy to let him know that my tooth felt great, I was able to eat food on that side without any pain, and my crown fits perfectly without having to have any adjustments. Long review, but always worth leaving it when you have good experience and super happy with my appointment. Will definitely be a...
Read moreBest Scottsdale has to offer hands down. I felt comfortable (and so did my kids). Seeing a dentist let alone a new one is not generally enjoyable, but insurance changed and we relocated. We found a solid pediatrician and family doctor, but were looking for a dentist. Since I have family in the industry, we have high standards and went to a couple other practices before choosing on Shea Dental…I’m happy to say Shea Dental exceeded all my expectations.
Dr. Josh and his staff were warm and welcoming. His jokes made things a bit more easy going and his confidence was comforting. It was apparent that he takes dentistry, his work, and his health seriously. The tech was cool even though I didn’t understand it much, it looked fancy!
At the end of the day, to be able to have the work completed in one appointment by someone I felt like was looking out for what was best for me and not just his pockets was something I wasn’t used to. I Didn’t know much about mercury fillings either…thankfully had those taken care of. It felt like he was on my team and wanted to make my experience the best it could be because going to the dentist isn’t my favorite thing to do.
The true test came with my kids since they had to tag along. They loved the kids book that we were able to get to entertain them and they loved taking pictures by the neon sign before we left. Dr Josh even made it a point to come to the waiting area, meet the kids, and say hello. Next time we will have to see if we can get Dr Josh to take a photo with us but he was busy! I’ve not ever once had a dentist take the extra time at MY appointment to say hi to my kids.
I’m lucky to have stumbled across this office. Thank you Shea dental and Dr Josh for making Scottsdale and the dentist feel like a...
