This restaurant is incredible I flew in from NY to visit some family and was recommended to come and eat at this establishment. One word can be used to describe it "WOW" Lets get started with the Pita Bread that was brought over to our table, one of the best I had ever eaten. So fluffy and warm and spongy all combinations that just cant be described by word but only by taste I could get an entire order of that Pita bread and live off it for a week till ill need to go and get myself another batch. My wife didn't even get the chance to take any pictures of it due to me devouring all the bread before she can open the camera app on her phone. We started with ordering the sushi which was delicious I couldn't get enough of if the spicy tuna truly spicy and not fishy at all just perfect, then was the Red Dragon now if you want to try good quality sushi try this roll. Crunchy, spicy, flavorful, everything packed in one bite size roll. Another appetizer I had ordered was the falafel now imma be real with this im not the craziest fan for falafel I personally never order it when im out at restaurants but I was recommended to try it and lets just say thank you to the kind waitress that recommended me to try it cause my god they were so good I felt like eating them was a crime for my stomach there was no way something can be this good to eat It was absolutely the best falafel I had ever ate in my entire life and I am definitely flying back just to order some more of that. For the final dish I had ordered the Shawarma Pita this was the most tender chicken I had ever eaten from a shawarma plate and the pita bread that I had wrote about earlier it simply could not get any better.
And just for the dessert section I had to keep this as its own portion of the review because the owner himself had recommended us to try the Churros and at first I was a bit hesitant but the entire meal was incredible already I had to try this to be the icing on the cake and it most certainly lived up to that saying because the churros were so soft and warm something ive never experience at a fair that I would pay a ridiculous price for. This establishment was truly one that I will never forget and will be...
Read moreThe TLDR of my experience at Fata Morgana is that it was simultaneously fine dining and also a lovingly made home cooked meal from your Mediterranean family.
In order to explain how great my experience was with Fata Morgana, it is important to understand the situation. I have never been a huge fan of Mediterranean food. My first real introduction to Mediterranean food was in the last 2 years. I’ve found some dishes and foods that I enjoy, but I wouldn’t select it as my favorite from a list. When I ate at Fata Morgana today I was measuring up all of the different foods I had to my recent experiences with similar food. I found each item on the menu to be better than any other iteration of Mediterranean food I have ever had before. Was the Falafel good? The best. Was the steak good? No, it was absolutely incredible. I was blown away by the steak which tasted so juicy and buttery, but was cooked in a clean kosher fashion. Even something as simple as pita bread was made to perfection.
Fata Morgana’s menu also included sushi, which I was initially skeptical about, but they proved any skepticism to be unfounded because the sushi was astoundingly delicious. Fata Morgana has a firm grasp on flavor profiles, spices, seasoning, and every other facet involved in forming a delicious meal. Apart from that, the atmosphere in the restaurant is very comfortable. It felt like the kind of place I could go for a fine dining date with my fiance and also like a comfy casual lunch while running errands around town.
The whole experience was capped off by the fantastic staff. They were the kind of people who could read a person and guide their dining experience to all of the foods that they would enjoy the most. They were quick, responsive, professional, and very kind.
I thoroughly enjoyed the food, the setting, the staff and the experience as a whole. You don’t have to be a fan of Mediterranean food, or even familiar with it to have a fantastic dining experience at...
Read moreI am a regular diner in Scottsdale, eating out 5-7 times per week. Today, we went to Fata Morgana for lunch which was certainly the worst possible experience I have had in any Scottsdale restaurant.
First of all, the service was painfully slow. Second, the lamb kebab entree was prepared with meat that would typically be thrown out. These scraps of lamb they served consisted primarily of fat, gristle and tendons. While we are eating, a group of four diners go outside to smoke seated adjacent to the front door, despite posted signs to the contrary. The front door doesn’t shut all the way so we had the pleasure of inhaling cigarette smoke while we attempted to chew our food. Further, we never saw our waiter after we ordered so we couldn’t express our concerns.
After waiting an extended period of time, I decided to go up to the kitchen counter and ask to pay for our meal. The staff member asked how everything was and I told her about the poor quality of the lamb kebab entree. She had nothing to say. When I questioned her about a lack of response, she informed me she was not the chef. I asked again if she, as a representative of the restaurant, had anything to say, and then I received a weak apology. I paid quickly, reluctantly tipped 20% and departed.
This was a first and last dining experience at this establishment. There are several other wonderful options for Mediterranean food...
