UPDATE: I’ve since had to cut off over 6 inches of my hair. I’m devastated. My hair was so damaged. Go anywhere else. Super cuts would be kinder to your hair.
I had a pretty bad experience here. There was some severe lack of communication. I never knew what the actual price of my services were, or what was included and what was an added charge. I also asked if they were using a bonding agent in my balayage service (olaplex, B3, etc) and my stylist, as sweet as can be, kind of looked at me confused and stated they were using one. This puzzled me because typically that’s an additional charge, as usually it’s an upgrade to your service. However once I was home and washed my hair (that’s another story) it was clear that there wasn’t an added bonding agent added and that was really disappointing to me. I probably would have declined my services right there if it had been communicated to me that they weren’t using one. I also felt pressured to make a second appointment while my hair was processing. I hadn’t even seen the final look yet, and they walked up to me asking when I wanted my second appointment and I felt obligated to schedule one. As I checked out, they continued to pressure me for a third. I felt this was in poor taste.
A few other things that were disappointing is the way the services are priced. I understand the business side of things, every stylist has their own pricing. However, apparently I was scheduled for a balayage and a cut to be done by two separate stylists? I had made it very clear when I scheduled the appointment that I didn’t want a hair cut, maybe a light dusting after the balayage as the ends seem to need it once the bleach processes (understandably so, and normally this is included in anywhere else I’ve ever gone). They wanted to charge me $100 for this! Granted, I had a 50% off voucher, but I still found it ridiculous to charge $50 for less than a trim, especially after paying high dollar for a balayage service. I’m not saying that stylists shouldn’t be paid for their work, they absolutely should be, but it shouldn’t be that unreasonable. As I passed on several offers for a cut, my stylist stated she would be styling my hair since I didn’t get a cut (instead of the hair cutter I guess). She used an obscene amount of product during the styling. She didn’t explain any of them, and used so much hair spray and texture spray. I give her the benefit of the doubt because possibly she wanted my hair to keep the curl but I couldn’t even move my hair when I left, and it felt so dry and crispy. It was disappointing. My grand total ended up being $102 for the balayage and style, that’s with 50% off. Had I been paying full price, I would have been extremely upset.
I got home and immediately washed and deep conditioned my hair. That’s when I realized that my hair was breaking and extremely damaged. I take a lot of pride in my hair, and I take really good care of it. That’s when I knew she hadn’t used a bonding agent. I felt heartbroken. This may seem ridiculous to some, but if you’re going to a salon with the hope that they prioritize the integrity of your hair over a profit, this is not the salon for you.
Overall, my stylist was extremely nice, and the end result looks pretty. I enjoy the color a lot, and thought her placement of the new lightened pieces showed talent and experience. I’m happy with how it looks, but it’s not worth the cost of the damage my hair has had now.
Buyer beware, you get what you pay for and I take full responsibility for trusting a coupon offered for a salon I didn’t know...
Read moreI would like to give the Toni and Guy at Scottsdale fashion square a -100 if that was possible... I am writing because I have many a bad experience there. I didn't say anything before, but I keep getting text messages telling me that "they miss me" so that just ticked me off... My first bad experience with them was that they had forgotten my appointment or double booked me "TWICE" . After waiting to get in for a hair color I had Dominique die my hair green and black when I requested for a brown with blonde and red highlights. Not only is he a horrible hair color technician- apparently Toni and Guy has their staff specializing in either color or cut, I am not sure what he specializes in apart from arrogance and nonchalance. Not only did he ruin my hair, he didn't even apologize. After complaining to management, they did give me a complimentary hair color and my next colorist Salina was amazing. After making a booking with her in advance for my next appointment, I call to confirm my appointment to find out she has left and the staff didn't even bother to call me to inform me that she was gone but felt they had the liberty to book me with whoever they felt fit. Going in for my next appointment, they again hadn't got their appointment straight but I waited in optimism to get a hair color I didn't really like. They politely let me know that they could re-schedule me anytime I wished again for a re-color. Going back in three weeks later, I get a hair color that simply fries my hair and my hair went through a period of falling and looks like a dried wig. From my experience here the management really needs work and sometimes you luck out with a great stylist and colorist but they don't stand up for the TONI and guy reputation that they strive for. I WILL NEVER SET FOOT IN THAT...
Read moreFor anyone new to Society Salon- I arrived with healthy hair but was looking to freshen my look, so I req. a Balayage with a light brown root touch-up to match my base and blond highlights. I did show an album of photos for inspiration. Salon Stylist Serena did not realize she had painted my roots permanently dark red/brown until she rinsed my hair. She did not pay attention to detail and also left the bleach on my hair too long. After consulting with a coworker on how to fix the color, she had Felix assist her with applying another color. After the attempt to color correct, the red was still visible, and some of my highlights were darkened. Despite a Great cut from Felix and paying $325.30, here I am 2 weeks later with embarrassing hair breakage constantly visible on my shoulders. This service took 6hrs 20 mins. of my time & will take another year+ to restrengthen my hair.
UPDATE: Armani (Manager) telephoned me stating she had no idea this incident had occurred until reading my Google post. She apologized and asked me to explain what had occurred, interrupting me several times with question. She insisted she was not a professional stylist but proceeded to speculate what could have gone wrong while asking me where I bought my hair product and its name brand. She said she would allow me to finish my story but did not. She assumed offering me a re-due with the same stylist would resolve the issue, but I chose Not to return.
Nutshell: Negative impact caused by the lack of Quality Customer Service...
