Didn’t know what to expect when booking this hotel; reviews can only influence you so much when making a decision. Our priority was saving money over a 4-day stay and being close to Old Town. We knew we wanted more than just a standard room, as there were three of us staying for four days so was hoping for our budget, we’d be able to get a room that was more spacious, with a living area. The Hyatt usually doesn’t disappoint, so we stuck to this hotel brand for good reason.
First off, the location is spectacular; I would say about a 4-5 minute walk to Old Town, which was great bc we didn’t want to stay in the hustle and bustle of things, but we were just close enough to walk to all our brunches and dinners. This hotel is like three stoplights away from the beginning of the Old Town strip. It’s a pretty quiet area but if you don’t want to be in Old Town, there are 2-3 bars within walking distance, heading into the center.
The hotel and room itself, are not stylishly decorated, but also not dilapidated. I would say you can tell it’s an older building/style, and they likely did a refresh recently to bring it up to date. There are some dated touches (dark granite w/oak wood), but for the most part, nothing detrimental to our stay. The property itself was clean and peaceful. Something to note as I read in the reviews, this property has three floors and NO ELEVATORS. I made sure to suggest a ground floor beforehand, as we had planned to do a lot of drinking. Don’t want to climb up two flights after a drunkin night.
Hats off to the staff…..Carlos was the front desk guy and he was there pretty much every time we stopped by. Super NICE, super courteous and super friendly. He helped us store our bags until we got back from brunch and left for the airport. Samantha is the hotel manager, and we had some correspondence before our arrival as I had booked one night via points and the other two nights online. I requested the first floor and to stay in one room and not have to move out and re-check in; she accommodated our group.
There’s plenty of parking and it appeared safe; we didn’t have a car so I can’t say much more.
Hyatt members get free bottled water and I often filled up at the gym.
Wifi does not work in the rooms, only in the lobby. Not sure if this was a temporary thing during our stay, or all the time.
Didn’t have breakfast but I did check it out bc I needed OJ for my mimosa. The spread was nice, and it looked very clean.
Gym was spacious and had three treadmills, one stationary bike, two ellipticals and plenty of weights. Machines squeaked a bit but nothing outrageous.
Would definitely...

The rooms are spread over several buildings and more like an apartment than a typical multi-story hotel, which I enjoy. It feels more homey and private. There are no elevators so if you have a heavy suitcase like me, you'll want a room on the first floor or you'll be lugging it up the steps. I'm not usually a fan of first floor rooms but these were private enough that it felt very comfortable. Yes, you may hear some noise as people check in/check out but it's a hotel, so you expect some of that no matter what. It didn't feel overly obtrusive.
There's a really nice bar/dining area that's open and attractive and the food (including free breakfast) was also good. I liked having everything in the main building - gym, laundry, dining, front desk. I didn't mind walking out to the building for meals or amenities since it's a nice space and everything is relatively close anyway.
The staff was amazing. Everyone was warm, friendly, helpful and accommodating. After a few days they felt more like friends. They were quick with recommendations for places to go, and if you needed something like fresh coffee, all you had to do was ask.
The rooms were spacious, clean and nicely decorated. I really liked having the main bathroom separate from the sink area, and the walk-in closet was a nice bonus. It was a great place to work, too. Nice desk, comfortable couch with a side table that slides over it. Plus you're within a few miles of some fun bars and restaurants. There is also a cigar bar around the corner which is a favorite of mine.
Cons for people who like to know the down sides: not having an elevator could be an issue for some people. The shower door was heavy and tended to stick so it was a little challenging to move. If your room overlooks the pool you'll have a nice view but they play music, too, which some people may not want to hear. Can't think of anything else. These are all minor but may help some people with preferences.
Overall this was a great experience and I'd go back...
Read moreTLDR: Property feels old and dated. Hotel was clean, but had issues with the AC in one room, and the shower in a 2nd, hotel just doesn't live up to most of the other Hyatt Properties I've stayed at.
Recently stayed at the Hyatt House in Old Town Scottsdale during a quick last-minute vacation to Scottsdale. When I left for the airport around 6PM I texted the hotel and asked if we could have extra pillows and if the AC could be set to 65 so the room would be cool when we arrived around midnight so we could go right to sleep. The hotel never responded to that text… When we walked into the hotel room it was warm, and no extra pillows (just 4 small sub-standard hotel pillows). The next evening after the AC had been set to 65 (lowest it goes) and running for almost 24 hours the room temp displayed on the thermostat was 76 so we called the front desk and requested a new room since that room’s ac was terrible. The front desk was very quick to assign us a new room, and even had a new room key delivered to us within 10min. The person delivering the room key even offered to help us move to the new room so Ill give credit to the staff that day for being helpful! The new room AC worked well, the room promptly got COLD, and the ac cycled ON/OFF to maintain a COLD room as expected. Unfortunately, the new room lacked shower water pressure and the water temps changed very slow in the shower which the original room did not have that issue but at this point our trip was mostly over and since the room was COLD, I was willing to have an annoying shower.
Somewhat disappointed at this HYATT property, out of my ~15 nights this year in mostly Hyatt house & Hyatt Place properties this one felt the oldest and most in need of refurbishment. I probably will NOT stay here again and look at a different Hyatt House location that’s been recently renovated.
Some other random things to note: This location does NOT have the TV casting ability most other Hyatt properties have. The Rooms windows all face the outdoor hallways so privacy is NON existent if you open your window shade. 2nd / 3rd floor guests will have to carry luggage up and down stairs as there are NO elevators (at least there were NOT in the 2...
