My husband and I booked this hotel as a short weekend getaway for my husband's birthday and we were very happy with our stay! Our very first interaction with the hotel staff was reassuring that our stay was going to be great. I called the hotel to find out if they did anything special for birthdays or special occasions to which Matthew, one of the front desk agents, gave several different food & beverage options. We decided to go with the meat and cheese platter and were even given the option to have it delivered to the room right before we got there to ensure it was fresh. I will say, the ONLY disappointment we had with this trip was that I'm pretty sure there were supposed to be crackers or some type of bread with the tray and there wasn't any (our bad, we didn't ask or report it). This didn't stop us from enjoying it, though. The offerings on the platter were still delicious!
Checking in to the hotel was very easy and Matthew (same person I talked to on the phone!) was kind, personable, and patient with any questions we had.
Our room was great! Very clean. Bed was comfy, lighting was warm and welcoming. A few fun and convenient things they had in the room was a pitcher for filtered water (which you can find on each floor I believe) and a $5 breakfast bag. Although they do have quite an amazing breakfast, which I will mention, the breakfast bag was an affordable and convenient option especially when you're on the go and want something quick. In the breakfast bag, they give you juice (ours was orange juice), yogurt, and fresh fruit. It was brought just a few minutes after our selected time, but we could understand there might have been several others who wanted theirs at the same time.
Rewinding back to the night we checked in, my husband and I knew there were a few fun places to eat and check out locally so we took a walk. Just a few minutes walking distance away, we found the Brat Haus. We highly suggest it if you love a good bratwurst and drinks. On our walk, we passed by a cute little coffee shop and a sweets shop which we stopped by as well. They were called the JOJO Coffeehouse and Unbaked was the sweets shop. Both very fun places to go for a quick bite or treat.
We had the chance to visit the Outrider Rooftop Lounge (top of the hotel) and enjoy some drinks at the bar. At the time we went up, there weren't any available tables, but we sat at the bar for our drinks (which were delicious and our bartenders were super nice!) and then we just walked around. The rooftop lounge is so fun and relaxing at the same time. Clean, nice panoramic view of Scottsdale--hills, city lights, and all--so refreshing.
We also had the chance to go to the pool and enjoy some bites from their afternoon menu. We had the sliders, the chicken tenders, and the pork belly queso with chips. All super yummy! Our server unsurprisingly was also very kind, personable, and very prompt in taking and bringing our order. I don't remember his name, but he was awesome :) If you're looking for a deep lap pool, this wasn't it, but it was nice to just get in for some relaxation and relief from the heat. Some other great features were all in the details: Pool towels ready to go in case you didn't bring one, fresh water and cups to stay hydrated, and the chaise loungers had a nice shelf type feature attached to set whatever you want on them.
After the pool, we decided to take a short bike ride along the block. We LOVED the bikes. The area is so fun and what a nice way to see everything and not have to worry about parking on the streets.
Dinner at the Cobre Cafe was delicious and our server was great. Breakfast the next morning was so yummy and our server Mike was incredible! He was kind, accomodating, and knowledgable. We had the breakfast burrito and the waffles, both of which were both incredible! (I tried the bacon jam with my burrito and it was pretty good).
Overall, a great stay and we can't wait to come back again on our next...

Read moreThe customer service at this location is abysmal. While not blatantly rude, the front desk staff is not super helpful either.
I received multiple texts from them prior to my arrival to let me know that they are not offering housekeeping unless you opt in. We opted out the first time, but they still texted and asked a few more times before we arrived.
We were checking out of another hotel that day, so I asked them if we arrived at the Canopy between 1-4 PM, would we be able to go to the pool if our room wasn't ready. They said no, and offered to hold our bags until the room was ready. Never once did they say we would have access to the rooftop lounge to wait. We arrived shortly after 1 PM to the location and were informed once again that our room was not ready. Again, an opportunity for them to direct us to the rooftop lounge to relax and have lunch and drinks, or somehow allow us to the pool since they had already taken my credit card and charged me for an incidentals hold prior to me actually having access to my room. They never mentioned it. I literally could have gone to the lounge and charged food and drinks to my room, but the front desk staff never even told us that was an option.
We left and went walking around in the dead heat of day, and finally around 3:40 PM, they texted to let us know the room was ready. Twenty minutes before check in, even though they had been texting me since 10 AM and knew my intentions to arrive before check in.
By the time we walked back to the hotel, got the keys, got to the room and changed to our bathing suits, it was close to 5 PM. We immediately went to the rooftop where the hostess of the lounge told us to go to the pool and get service at the pool instead of entering their establishment for a drink. We went to the pool, sat down, waited and waited and waited -- only to be told that poolside service had ended.
So, when check in isn't until 4 PM, poolside service ends by 5 PM . . . . then poolside service doesn't start until 11 AM and check out is at 12 PM, at what point is a guest supposed to enjoy this particular "perk" of this hotel? Absolutely terrible.
We stayed at the Phoenician Hotel by Marriott the night before. They allowed us in at 10 AM, allowed us a late check out at 1 PM, and told us we were welcome to stay on property and enjoy amenities before and after our room was available. Take notes. I know which brand caters to its customers and which one doesn't, and I can assure you I will think three times before I ever book at another...
