My grandmother complained of the 3rd floor dining room noise coming into her apartment everyday since the 1st day she moved in. The admin promised to put pads on the chairs upstairs but it never happened. They promised to find her another room, it never happened. I was in there and heard the loud noises too, time and time again. Other residence told us that others have moved from that apartment because of the same reason. The admin alway made us go in circles and said "we are working on it," for an entire year. I also had issues with the billing department bumping my grandmothers care cost level way up with out notifying me (illegal) and it went through auto-pay. When I called to inquire they said she had needed help showering and put a shower assistance cost for 7 days a week. I investigated and found out my grandmother had NEVER had shower assistance and they backtracked and gave us a short verbal apology, and credited the account for the outrages charges that went through. Also I set up auto-pay when I first moved her in and after 6 months they didn't bill for 3 months then billed all at once and it was a 22k bill. Seriously a lack of professionalism. The biggest issue though isn't all of that. It is this. The staff here are way overworked. Although some are very sweet and dear to me and my grandmother, they are running around like crazy and have to be a million places at once. Because of short staffing and residence needing help with dressing and showers in the morning the residence who pulled the red cord were not helped. Multiple times my grandmother had to wait 45 min to 1 hour after she pulled the cord to receive help up off the toilet or pain meds. Her neighbor once yelled for one hour after she had fallen and my grandmother got to her and went to find someone to help. This is not safe, and not what you are paying 7k a month for. This is not because the staff is not doing their jobs, it is because admin does not hire enough staff. When someone calls out there is no one to fill in and others end up doing twice the work. I am disappointed at how they treat their employees. Working with the elderly and personal care is a selfless job that takes a special person and I am not convinced that the facility values their employees. During dining time food was served cold and sometimes residence would have to wait over an hour to receive their meal while they wait at the tables. Clearly this facility needs to hire much more staff and stop overworking and burning out the staff they do have. I felt bad for the overworked employees. I would not recommend this assisted living, but compared to the area it is better then other assisted...
Read moreIvy Park of Seal Beach is a wonderful place for my parents to call home. I did so much reasearch trying to find the right place and this fit everything we were looking for. It has been almost a year since my parents moved into an independent beautiful apartment. The food is delicous with so many choices. The activities and live entertainment is wonderful, like living at a first class resort. The sight-seeing and shopping trips are a must for my mother. My family always feels very welcome to visit and walk around the grounds, beautiful pathways and relaxing porches. My parents started to need more care so it was an easy transition to a different living area. My mother is now in the memory care living and I cannot say enough amazing compliments about this program. They even offer a support group for family members. But the most important thing about Ivy Park is the staff. The caregivers are so well-trained, professional, and the kindest people you...
Read moreI dropped by Ivy Park at Seal Beach without an appointment and had the good fortune to meet with Tami Ojwang, the Executive Director on 2/12/2025. Unlike other places I had visited, the ED wanted to know about my dear friend – her physical and mental health, interests and hobbies, functioning level, current situation, etc. before discussing the many services of the assisted living and memory care facilities. After a detailed conversation, we went on an extensive tour, including the dining rooms, living quarters, yard area, and multiple activity rooms. , We were introduced to several staff members who also generously answered our questions and concerns. Everyone was friendly and gracious. Perhaps most important of all, the residents were smiling and actively engaged and told us how pleased they were with their care. We were so excited to have...
