Baja Fresh — Restaurant in Seal Beach

We really love the food at Baja Fresh, no matter which location you go to, the food is exactly the same--same size, same ingredients, cooked the same, & especially, tastes the same with the same quality & attention to making it. The locations are always clean & the employees are always friendly, helpful, kind & patient. So, Baja Fresh restaurants are all very consistent which is one of the reasons that we like them so much. We haven't been to Baja Fresh for awhile because there isn't one near our home in North Long Beach, but we always make a point to eat at store 30640 on Seal Beach Blvd. when we are passing that location or have business in that area. Like I said, we always count on good, fresh, tasty, food assembled & cooked the same & at the same price. We went to eat there on 10/11/24, my Partners birthday & ordered our usual items. Well, I must say that when we got our meals & tasted them, they just didn't taste right, or the same as it always had. Don't misunderstand me, the food was still fresh, good & tasty, but not like it used to. Although we could be wrong, we determined that the ingredients seemed to be a slightly lower quality than previously used, that they weren't 'top of the line' as they used to have. Our food overall lost it's 'spark' that we loved so much. We'll try eating there again to check if the issue was a one time situation, but, if we find that the negative change is permanent, we will cut back on the visits that we do make & find a replacement restaurant instead. I hate change like this kind. Especially because it appears quality was sacrificed to save a few $$$, but it greatly affected the flavor of the food too. Saving a few $$$ can sometimes lead to losing a few more $$$$ somewhere else (customers not liking the food as much & not going there with their $$$$ to eat.) were hoping though, it was just a 'fluke' & the next time we visit, everything will be...

I'm torn between 3 and 4 stars because it's not the greatest in food but it's still good.

I'm actually here right now writing this review. Katelyn must be off shift because I don't see her after getting out of the restroom waiting for my order to be ready.

Ordered a side of pork carnitas and an a la carte birria taco which ended up not coming with consumé dip. Weird!! How is this truly a birria taco?! I thought they forgot it but turns out when you buy a la carte, you get partial birria experience!? Lol you should tell customers that it doesn't come with consumé dip and ask if they want to order it or get the combo so they can have the full birria experience! Booooo

Anyway, Katelyn is still awesomeee. She offered me cup of water before I could ask and chips! Thanks for your sweetness!

Been here a couple of times now. The food is consistent with flavor, texture, and temperature. The cashiers have been nice and knowledgeable. The location has also been consistent in cleanliness each time I went. I like the variety menu choices, especially since it has an Impossible beef alternative for those that want the best beef/meat alternative that tastes good still. It is a good alternative to other taco/burrito locations. Prices are competitive. Pro-Tip from a frugal person here: sign up for their rewards and newsletter to get free food, BOGO and codes.
